Choosing a location can be one of the most important and difficult things when setting up a business. Startup ZeroWeb hopes to help businesses find areas with optimal foot traffic and a strong customer base with its new platform Real Step.

With 4.8 million businesses in Korea, it’s more important than ever for retailers to choose not only the right area, but also the right street. Real Step is a new mobile app from ZeroWeb that lets businesses view and analyze “floating” populations in real time.

Real Step gets its data by tracking mobile signals on the street to measure foot traffic in real time. ZeroWeb is developing a new system which will use this data to show detailed analysis of specific areas.

It’s the first platform of its kind in Korea and small and medium businesses can use the data to not only help select business locations but also aid in making marketing and managerial decisions. A trial version of the Real Step app is now available on Android.

ZeroWeb says that it currently has 5000 “street spots” at popular locations where it is tracking data, and will continue to add more. The company also plans to use the platform in Gangwon Province during the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics to track and analyze visitors to the area.
