농업회사법인 우듬지팜은 지난달 28일 라오스 보리캄사이주 정부와 해외 농업개발을 위한 토지 사용 업무협약(MOU)을 체결했다고 밝혔다. 이번 협약은 해당 주 빡가딩 지역 내 150ha(약 45만 평) 규모 부지 사용권 확보를 주요 내용으로 한다. 협약 성사는 우듬지팜 김호연 대표와 유현숙 라오스 정부 명예대사의 협력을 기반으로 이뤄졌다.
라오스는 국민의 70% 이상이 농업에 종사하는 대표적 농업국이지만, 기술력 부족과 미흡한 기반 시설로 인해 생산성이 낮은 상황이다. 우듬지팜은 선진 영농 기법, 현지 노동 환경 개선, 기계화 농업 등을 도입해 전통 농업을 수출 중심의 현대 농업으로 전환하는 것을 목표로 하고 있다. 이를 통해 라오스를 아세안 지역의 새로운 곡창지대로 육성하는 데 기여할 계획이다.
이번 사업은 충청남도가 추진 중인 ‘충남형 스마트 농업기술’과도 연계돼 있다. 충남도는 2022년 라오스와 우호협력 관계를 맺고, 2024년 협의의사록 체결을 통해 공동 농업발전 모델 구축을 추진해왔다. 2025년에는 라오스에 K-스마트팜을 도입하는 대규모 프로젝트가 진행될 예정이며, 우듬지팜이 민간 차원에서 기술 이전과 운영 경험을 제공하게 된다.
우듬지팜은 이번 150ha 개발을 시작으로 향후 6,000ha(약 1,800만 평) 규모까지 사업을 확장할 계획이며, 회사는 이를 통해 약 7,000억 원 규모의 매출 달성을 전망하고 있다. 해당 지역에서는 바나나, 애플망고, 파인애플, 블루베리 등 고부가가치 열대과일과 채소류가 재배될 예정이다. 우듬지팜은 기후 적응형 재배 기술과 기계화 농업을 도입해 생산성을 높이고, 생산된 농산물 전량을 국내로 공급해 식량안보 강화에도 기여한다는 방침이다.
사업은 내년 1분기 착공을 목표로 하며, 착공 후 1년 뒤 첫 수확이 이뤄질 예정이다. 이후 2차 연도부터는 연 2회 수확 체계를 구축해 생산량을 확대할 계획이다.
우듬지팜 관계자는 “이번 협약이 글로벌 농업기업으로 도약하는 전환점”이라며, “토망고 등 기존 브랜드 경쟁력을 기반으로 유럽형 채소 재배 및 해외 자원 개발 분야로 영역을 넓혀 나가겠다”라고 밝혔다.

Udumji Farm signs MOU with Laos government for 150 hectares of agricultural development
Udumji Farm, an agricultural corporation, announced on the 28th of last month that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the government of Borikhamxai Province, Laos, for land use for overseas agricultural development. The agreement primarily secures the right to use 150 hectares (approximately 450,000 pyeong) of land in the province's Pak Ga Ding district. The agreement was achieved through the collaboration of Udumji Farm CEO Kim Ho-yeon and Honorary Ambassador Yoo Hyeon-sook of the Lao government.
Laos is a prominent agricultural country, with over 70% of its population engaged in agriculture. However, productivity remains low due to a lack of technological prowess and inadequate infrastructure. Udumji Farm aims to transform traditional agriculture into a modern, export-oriented one by introducing advanced farming techniques, improving local labor conditions, and mechanized farming. Through these efforts, the company plans to contribute to the development of Laos as a new breadbasket in the ASEAN region.
This project is also linked to South Chungcheong Province's "South Chungcheong Smart Agricultural Technology" initiative. South Chungcheong Province established friendly cooperative relations with Laos in 2022 and signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2024, promoting the establishment of a joint agricultural development model. A large-scale project to introduce K-Smart Farms to Laos is scheduled for 2025, with Udeumji Farm providing technology transfer and operational experience at the private level.
Beginning with this 150-hectare development, Woodeumji Farm plans to expand its operations to 6,000 hectares (approximately 18 million pyeong), projecting approximately KRW 700 billion in sales. The area will be used to cultivate high-value-added tropical fruits and vegetables, including bananas, apple mangoes, pineapples, and blueberries. Woodeumji Farm aims to increase productivity by adopting climate-adapted cultivation techniques and mechanized farming. Furthermore, by supplying all of its agricultural products domestically, it aims to contribute to strengthening food security.
The project aims to begin construction in the first quarter of next year, with the first harvest expected one year after construction begins. Starting in the second year, production will be expanded by establishing a biannual harvesting system.
A representative of Udumji Farm stated, “This agreement is a turning point for us to leap forward as a global agricultural company,” and added, “Based on the competitiveness of our existing brands, such as Tomango, we will expand our business into European-style vegetable cultivation and overseas resource development.”

La société agricole Udumji Farm a annoncé le 28 du mois dernier avoir signé un protocole d'accord avec le gouvernement de la province de Borikhamxai, au Laos, concernant l'utilisation de terres pour le développement agricole à l'étranger. Cet accord garantit principalement le droit d'exploiter 150 hectares (environ 450 000 pyeong) de terres dans le district de Pak Ga Ding, au Laos. Il a été conclu grâce à la collaboration de Kim Ho-yeon, PDG d'Udumji Farm, et de Yoo Hyeon-sook, ambassadrice honoraire du gouvernement laotien.
Le Laos est un pays agricole important, où plus de 70 % de la population travaille dans l'agriculture. Un projet d'envergure visant à introduire les fermes intelligentes K au Laos est prévu pour 2025, la ferme d'Udeumji assurant le transfert de technologie et partageant son expérience opérationnelle dans le secteur privé.
Avec ce premier aménagement de 150 hectares, la ferme Woodeumji prévoit d'étendre ses activités à 6 000 hectares (environ 18 millions de pyeong), avec un chiffre d'affaires estimé à 700 milliards de wons coréens. Cette zone sera consacrée à la culture de fruits et légumes tropicaux à haute valeur ajoutée, tels que bananes, mangues, ananas et myrtilles. La ferme Woodeumji ambitionne d'accroître sa productivité grâce à l'adoption de techniques agricoles adaptées au climat et à la mécanisation. De plus, en commercialisant l'intégralité de sa production agricole sur le marché intérieur, elle entend contribuer au renforcement de la sécurité alimentaire.
Le projet prévoit un début des travaux au premier trimestre de l'année prochaine, la première récolte étant attendue un an après le début du chantier. Dès la deuxième année, la production sera augmentée grâce à la mise en place d'un système de récolte bisannuelle.
Un représentant de la ferme Udumji a déclaré : « Cet accord marque un tournant décisif pour notre développement en tant qu'entreprise agricole mondiale », et a ajouté : « Forts de la compétitivité de nos marques existantes, telles que Tomango, nous allons étendre nos activités à la culture de légumes de style européen et à l'exploitation des ressources à l'étranger. »
