에이트테크(AETECH)가 자사 웨이스트 매니지먼트(Waste Management) 솔루션 중 하나인 ‘아이로-mrf’로 ‘에디슨 어워드 2025’ 최종 후보에 올랐다고 23일 밝혔다.
‘에디슨 어워드(Edison Awards)’는 세계적으로 권위 있는 혁신·발명상 중 하나로, 창의적이고 혁신적인 아이디어나 기술, 서비스, 제품에 대해 시상한다. 이번 시상식은 오는 4월 3일 미국 플로리다 포트 마이어스에서 열리며, 에이트테크는 제조 및 물류 분야 – 생산 공정 혁신 부문에서 골드, 실버, 브론즈 중 하나의 상을 수상할 예정이다.
에이트테크의 ‘아이로-mrf(airo-mrf: AI Robot Material Recovery Facility)’는 로봇을 활용한 자원 회수 시설로, 폐기물 상하차, 전처리 및 후처리 전 과정을 로봇이 담당한다. 특히 AI 기반 폐기물 광학선별 로봇 ‘에이트론(Atron)’이 폐기물 선별의 핵심 역할을 맡고 있다. 이를 통해 에이트테크는 고순도 PET 플레이크를 생산하고, 자원 순환 산업에서 중요한 역할을 수행할 계획이다. 아이로-mrf 시설은 올해 중 인천 서구 경서동에 개소될 예정이다.
에이트테크는 “세계적 권위의 혁신상을 수상하게 되어 영광”이라며, “이번 에디슨 어워드 후보 선정은 자사의 웨이스트 매니지먼트 기술 혁신을 인정받은 성과”라고 전했다. 또한, “스마트 자동화 시설인 아이로-mrf는 폐기물 산업의 혁신을 이끌고 지속 가능성에 기여할 것”이라고 덧붙였다.

Aettech wins 'Edison Award'
AETECH announced on the 23rd that it has been nominated as a finalist for the 'Edison Award 2025' with 'Iro-mrf', one of its waste management solutions.
The 'Edison Awards' is one of the world's most prestigious innovation and invention awards, and is given to creative and innovative ideas, technologies, services, and products. This year's awards ceremony will be held in Fort Myers, Florida, USA on April 3, and Aettech is expected to receive one of the Gold, Silver, or Bronze awards in the Manufacturing and Logistics – Production Process Innovation category.
Aettech's 'airo-mrf (AI Robot Material Recovery Facility)' is a resource recovery facility that utilizes robots, where robots are in charge of the entire process from loading and unloading waste to preprocessing and postprocessing. In particular, the AI-based waste optical sorting robot 'Atron' plays a key role in waste sorting. Through this, Aettech plans to produce high-purity PET flakes and play an important role in the resource recycling industry. The airo-mrf facility is scheduled to open in Gyeongseo-dong, Seo-gu, Incheon this year.
Aettech said, “We are honored to receive the world’s most prestigious innovation award,” and added, “This Edison Award nomination is recognition of our waste management technology innovation.” They added, “The smart automated facility, Airo-MRF, will lead innovation in the waste industry and contribute to sustainability.”

エイトテックの「アイロ-mrf(airo-mrf: AI Robot Material Recovery Facility)」は、ロボットを活用した資源回収施設で、廃棄物上下車、前処理および後処理の全過程をロボットが担当する。特にAIベースの廃棄物光学選別ロボット「エトロン（Atron）」が廃棄物選別の重要な役割を担っている。これにより、エイトテックは高純度PETフレークを生産し、資源循環産業において重要な役割を果たす計画だ。アイロ-mrf施設は今年中に仁川西区慶西洞に開所される予定だ。
