AI 기반 웹툰 숏 애니메이션 제작 스타트업 블랙박스는 블루포인트파트너스와 ATP벤처스로부터 시드 투자를 유치했다고 밝혔다. 또한, 블랙박스는 중소벤처기업부의 기술창업 프로그램 ‘팁스'(TIPS)에 선정되어 5억원의 연구개발(R&D) 자금을 확보했다.
블랙박스는 AI 기술을 활용해 웹툰 원화를 숏 애니메이션으로 변환하는 솔루션을 개발 중이다. 이 솔루션은 웹툰이나 일러스트 원본 이미지 몇 장만으로도 캐릭터와 배경을 연결하여 자연스러운 장면 전환과 모션을 구현할 수 있다. 기존 애니메이션 제작 공정에 비해 시간과 비용을 크게 절감할 수 있으며, 웹툰 작가나 일러스트레이터가 쉽게 애니메이션 콘텐츠를 제작하고 유통할 수 있는 장점이 있다.
블랙박스는 B2B(스튜디오)와 B2C(개인 크리에이터) 모두를 대상으로 한 비즈니스 모델을 채택하고 있으며, 전 세계 OTT(Over-the-Top) 및 숏폼 영상 플랫폼 시장의 빠르게 성장하는 수요를 타깃으로 하고 있다. 특히 웹툰 IP(지식재산권)를 활용한 2차 콘텐츠 제작이 주목받고 있는 현황에서, 블랙박스의 기술은 큰 가능성을 지닌 것으로 평가된다.

Blackbox is developing a solution that uses AI technology to convert webtoon original drawings into short animations. Compared to the existing animation production process, it can significantly reduce time and cost, and has the advantage of allowing webtoon artists and illustrators to easily produce and distribute animation content.
Blackbox has adopted a business model targeting both B2B (studios) and B2C (individual creators), and is targeting the rapidly growing demand of the global OTT (Over-the-Top) and short-form video platform market. In particular, in the current situation where secondary content production utilizing webtoon IP (intellectual property rights) is attracting attention, Blackbox’s technology is evaluated to have great potential.
With this seed investment and TIPS support, Blackbox plans to advance its AI engine, build a content production pipeline, enter overseas markets (China, Southeast Asia, North America, etc.), and expand partnerships.
