서울특별시가 조성하고 한국과학기술연구원(KIST)과 고려대학교가 공동 운영하는 바이오·의료 창업 지원 플랫폼 ‘서울바이오허브’가 일본 제약기업 로토제약과 공동으로 오픈이노베이션 프로그램을 추진한다고 21일 밝혔다. 참가 기업 모집은 7월 21일부터 8월 11일까지 서울바이오허브 홈페이지를 통해 진행된다.
로토제약은 1899년 설립된 일본의 대표적인 제약 및 화장품 기업으로, 안약, 맨소래담, 하다라보 등 브랜드를 통해 국내 소비자에게도 잘 알려져 있다. 이번 프로그램은 서울바이오허브가 일본 제약사와 처음으로 추진하는 오픈이노베이션 협력으로, 이를 통해 한국 바이오·의료 스타트업의 일본 시장 진출 기회를 확대할 계획이다.
모집 대상은 창업 8년 이내의 바이오·의료 스타트업으로, 제형·성분·기술 기반의 ▲헤어케어 ▲아이케어 ▲스킨케어 ▲안티에이징 ▲프레일케어(노쇠 케어) 분야 기술을 보유한 기업이다.
최종 선정된 3개 기업은 로토제약 실무진과 함께 협업 전략을 수립하고, 일본 현지 임원진 앞에서 직접 기술 및 비즈니스 제안을 발표할 기회를 갖는다. 이후 평가를 거쳐 공동 연구개발, 기술이전, 글로벌 유통 확대, 인수합병(M&A) 등 다양한 방식의 실질적 협력으로 연계될 수 있다.
서울바이오허브는 일본 현지 액셀러레이터와 협력해 참여 기업에 현지 시장에 맞춘 멘토링과 컨설팅을 제공하며, 입주 공간, 연구 장비, 투자 연계 등 창업기업 성장을 위한 인프라도 지원할 예정이다.
서울바이오허브 김현우 단장은 “이번 로토제약과의 오픈이노베이션은 스타트업의 기술 수요 기반 협업을 실제 협력으로 연결하는 구조로 기획됐다”며 “일본 진출을 모색하는 스타트업에게 실질적인 기회를 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다”고 밝혔다.

Seoul Biohub-Rohto Pharmaceutical, Open Innovation Participating Companies Recruitment
Seoul Bio Hub, a bio and medical startup support platform established by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and jointly operated by the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) and Korea University, announced on the 21st that it will be promoting an open innovation program in collaboration with Japanese pharmaceutical company Rohto Pharmaceutical. Recruitment of participating companies will be conducted from July 21 to August 11 through the Seoul Bio Hub website.
Rohto Pharmaceutical is a representative Japanese pharmaceutical and cosmetics company established in 1899, and is well known to domestic consumers through brands such as eye drops, Mentholatum, and Hadalabo. This program is the first open innovation collaboration between Seoul Bio Hub and a Japanese pharmaceutical company, and through this, it plans to expand opportunities for Korean bio and medical startups to enter the Japanese market.
The recruitment target is a bio/medical startup established within the past 8 years, and a company that possesses technology in the fields of ▲hair care ▲eye care ▲skin care ▲anti-aging ▲flare care (aging care) based on formulation, ingredients, and technology.
The three companies that were finally selected will have the opportunity to establish a collaboration strategy with Rohto Pharmaceutical's executive team and present their technology and business proposals directly to local Japanese executives. After evaluation, they can be linked to various forms of practical cooperation such as joint research and development, technology transfer, global distribution expansion, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
Seoul Bio Hub will work with local Japanese accelerators to provide participating companies with mentoring and consulting tailored to the local market, and will also support infrastructure for startup growth, including space for moving in, research equipment, and investment connections.
Kim Hyun-woo, head of Seoul Biohub, said, “This open innovation with Rohto Pharmaceutical was planned as a structure to connect collaboration based on startups’ technological needs to actual collaboration,” adding, “We expect that it will provide practical opportunities for startups seeking to enter the Japanese market.”

最終選定された3つの企業は、ロト製薬実務陣と協業戦略を樹立し、日本の現地役員陣の前で直接技術およびビジネス提案を発表する機会を持つ。その後の評価を経て、共同研究開発、技術移転、グローバル流通拡大、買収合併（M&A）など多様な方式の実質的な協力で連携することができる。
ソウルバイオハブは日本現地アクセラレータと協力して参加企業に現地市場に合わせたメンタリングとコンサルティングを提供し、入居空間、研究機器、投資連携など創業企業成長のためのインフラも支援する予定だ。
ソウルバイオハブのキム・ヒョヌ団長は「今回のロト製薬とのオープンイノベーションはスタートアップの技術需要基盤コラボレーションを実際の協力で連結する仕組みとして企画された」とし「日本進出を模索するスタートアップに実質的な機会を提供できると期待する」と明らかにした。

Seoul Bio Hub, plateforme de soutien aux startups biomédicales et médicales créée par le gouvernement métropolitain de Séoul et gérée conjointement par l'Institut coréen des sciences et technologies (KIST) et l'Université de Corée, a annoncé le 21 janvier la promotion d'un programme d'innovation ouverte en collaboration avec le laboratoire pharmaceutique japonais Rohto Pharmaceutical. Le recrutement des entreprises participantes se déroulera du 21 juillet au 11 août sur le site web du Seoul Bio Hub.
Rohto Pharmaceutical est une entreprise pharmaceutique et cosmétique japonaise de renom, fondée en 1899. Elle est bien connue des consommateurs japonais grâce à des marques telles que les gouttes ophtalmiques, Mentholatum et Hadalabo. Ce programme constitue la première collaboration en matière d'innovation ouverte entre Seoul Bio Hub et une entreprise pharmaceutique japonaise. Il vise ainsi à élargir les opportunités de pénétration du marché japonais pour les start-ups coréennes du secteur biomédical et médical.
