비전 AI 전문 기업 슈퍼브에이아이(대표 김현수)는 과학기술정보통신부가 주관하는 ‘AI 파운데이션 모델’ 구축 사업에서 최종 TOP 5에 선정된 LG AI연구원 컨소시엄에 참여한다고 5일 밝혔다.
슈퍼브에이아이는 비-LG 계열사 중 유일하게 해당 컨소시엄에 모델 개발사로 참여하며, 멀티모달 AI 및 피지컬 AI 구현을 위한 데이터 파운데이션 설계와 구축을 맡는다. 구체적으로 시각·자연어·행동 등 복합 환경에서 수집된 데이터를 선별 및 합성하고, 학습 가능한 형태로 구조화하는 역할을 수행할 예정이다.
이번 사업은 ‘무빙 타겟(Moving Target)’ 전략을 기반으로 운영되며, 6개월~1년 주기로 글로벌 최고 수준 모델과의 성능 격차를 줄여가는 것을 목표로 한다. 정부는 향후 3년간 국내 대표 초거대 AI 모델을 개발하는 것을 주요 과제로 설정했다.
LG AI연구원 컨소시엄은 대규모 언어모델(LLM) 중심의 접근 방식에서 벗어나 비전 언어 모델(VLM), 멀티모달, 피지컬 AI 개발에 중점을 두는 전략을 채택하고 있다. 피지컬 AI는 시각 및 언어 정보를 종합적으로 해석하고, 이를 기반으로 현실 세계와 직접 상호작용하는 AI 기술로, 로봇, 제조, 물류, 의료 등 다양한 산업 분야에서의 활용이 기대된다.
슈퍼브에이아이는 이 컨소시엄 내에서 3차원 공간 이해, 자율 판단 및 사물과의 상호작용 등 피지컬 AI의 기반이 되는 기술 개발을 지원하며, 관련 멀티모달 데이터를 오픈소스로 공개해 생태계 확산에도 기여할 계획이다.
회사 측은 앞서 국내 최초 산업용 비전 파운데이션 모델 ‘제로(ZERO)’를 자체 개발한 바 있다. 해당 모델은 소량 데이터 기반 학습에서도 높은 성능을 구현할 수 있는 범용 AI 모델로, 다양한 시각 작업에 추가 학습 없이도 적용 가능하다. ZERO는 산업용 AI 벤치마크 테스트에서 주요 글로벌 모델을 제치고 1위를 기록했으며, CVPR 2025 챌린지에서는 2위를 기록한 바 있다.
슈퍼브에이아이는 현재까지 삼성, LG전자, 현대차, 퀄컴, SK텔레콤 등 100여 개 기업에 솔루션을 공급하고 있으며, 한국, 미국, 일본에 진출해 있다. 현재까지 총 490억 원의 누적 투자를 유치했고, 31건의 특허를 보유하고 있다.
김현수 대표는 “이번 컨소시엄 참여는 슈퍼브에이아이가 비전 AI를 넘어 멀티모달 및 피지컬 AI 영역으로 확장하는 데 있어 중요한 계기”라며, “한국이 피지컬 AI 시대에서 기술 주도권을 확보하는 데 기여하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Superbrain AI joins the top five consortiums in the national AI Foundation Model project.
Superb AI (CEO Hyunsoo Kim), a vision AI specialized company, announced on the 5th that it will participate in the LG AI Research Institute consortium, which was selected as one of the top 5 in the 'AI Foundation Model' construction project hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
Superb AI is the only non-LG affiliate participating in the consortium as a model developer, and will be responsible for designing and building a data foundation for implementing multimodal AI and physical AI. Specifically, it will select and synthesize data collected from complex environments, including visual, natural language, and behavioral, and structure it into a learnable form.
This project will be operated based on a "Moving Target" strategy, with the goal of narrowing the performance gap with the world's best models over a six-month to one-year cycle. The government has set a key goal of developing a domestically representative, ultra-large AI model over the next three years.
The LG AI Research Consortium is moving away from a large-scale language model (LLM)-centric approach and embracing a strategy focused on developing vision language models (VLMs), multimodality, and physical AI. Physical AI is an AI technology that comprehensively interprets visual and linguistic information and uses this information to directly interact with the real world. It is expected to find application in diverse industries, including robotics, manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare.
Within this consortium, Superbrain AI will support the development of technologies that form the basis of physical AI, such as three-dimensional spatial understanding, autonomous judgment, and interaction with objects, and will also contribute to the expansion of the ecosystem by open-sourcing related multimodal data.
The company previously developed "ZERO," Korea's first industrial vision foundation model. This general-purpose AI model can achieve high performance even with small data sets, making it applicable to a variety of visual tasks without additional training. ZERO ranked first in industrial AI benchmark tests, beating out leading global models, and placed second in the CVPR 2025 Challenge.
Superb AI has currently provided solutions to over 100 companies, including Samsung, LG Electronics, Hyundai Motor Company, Qualcomm, and SK Telecom, and has operations in Korea, the US, and Japan. To date, the company has attracted a total of 49 billion won in cumulative investment and holds 31 patents.
CEO Kim Hyun-soo said, “This participation in the consortium is an important opportunity for Superb AI to expand beyond vision AI into the multimodal and physical AI fields,” and added, “We will contribute to Korea securing technological leadership in the era of physical AI.”

视觉AI专业公司Superb AI（代表：金贤洙）5日宣布，将加入在科学技术信息通信部主办的“AI基础模型”建设项目中被选为前5名之一的LG AI研究院联盟。
Superb AI 是唯一一家以模型开发者身份参与该联盟的非 LG 子公司，并将负责设计和构建用于实现多模态 AI 和物理 AI 的数据基础。具体来说，它将选择和合成从复杂环境中收集的数据，包括视觉、自然语言和行为数据，并将其构建为可学习的形式。

Superbrain AI rejoint les cinq premiers consortiums du projet national AI Foundation Model.
Superb AI (PDG Hyunsoo Kim), une société spécialisée dans l'IA de vision, a annoncé le 5 qu'elle participerait au consortium LG AI Research Institute, qui a été sélectionné comme l'un des 5 meilleurs dans le projet de construction « AI Foundation Model » organisé par le ministère des Sciences et des TIC.
Superb AI est la seule filiale non LG à participer au consortium en tant que développeur de modèles. Elle sera chargée de concevoir et de construire une base de données pour la mise en œuvre de l'IA multimodale et physique. Plus précisément, elle sélectionnera et synthétisera les données collectées dans des environnements complexes, notamment visuels, en langage naturel et comportementaux, et les structurera sous une forme apprenable.
Ce projet sera mené selon une stratégie de « cible mobile », avec pour objectif de réduire l'écart de performance avec les meilleurs modèles mondiaux sur un cycle de six mois à un an. Le gouvernement s'est fixé comme objectif principal de développer un modèle d'IA ultra-large, représentatif du pays, au cours des trois prochaines années.
Le Consortium de recherche en IA LG abandonne une approche centrée sur les modèles de langage à grande échelle (MLH) pour adopter une stratégie axée sur le développement de modèles de langage visuel (MLV), la multimodalité et l'IA physique. L'IA physique est une technologie qui interprète de manière exhaustive les informations visuelles et linguistiques et les utilise pour interagir directement avec le monde réel. Elle devrait trouver des applications dans divers secteurs, notamment la robotique, l'industrie manufacturière, la logistique et la santé.
Au sein de ce consortium, Superbrain AI soutiendra le développement de technologies qui constituent la base de l'IA physique, telles que la compréhension spatiale tridimensionnelle, le jugement autonome et l'interaction avec les objets, et contribuera également à l'expansion de l'écosystème en open source des données multimodales associées.
L'entreprise a précédemment développé « ZERO », le premier modèle de base de vision industrielle de Corée. Ce modèle d'IA polyvalent peut atteindre des performances élevées même avec de petits ensembles de données, ce qui le rend applicable à diverses tâches visuelles sans formation supplémentaire.
