공익법인 임팩트투자사 한국사회투자(대표 이종익, 이순열)는 범국가 탄소중립 프로젝트 ‘넷제로 챌린지 X’에 참여해 기후테크 스타트업에 대한 발굴과 투자에 속도를 낸다고 9일 밝혔다.
넷제로 챌린지X는 대통령 직속 2050 탄소중립녹색성장위원회(이하 ‘탄녹위’)가 진행하는 범국가 탄소중립 프로젝트이다. 온실가스 감축 및 기후위기 적응 분야 ‘혁신기술’을 보유한 스타트업을 발굴하여 유니콘 기업으로 성장할 수 있도록 다양한 특전을 제공함으로써 탄소중립에 기여하고 녹색성장을 강화하기 위해 마련됐다.
본 프로젝트는 탄녹위, 관계부처, 기업, 유관기관 등이 협력하여 공동 추진하고 있으며, 각 기관 활동에 따라 티어(Tier) 1, 2, 3 기관으로 지원체계가 구축되어 있다. 우선 ‘티어1’ 기관은 직접 선발 및 창업 사업화 지원(보육, 투자 등)을 맡고, ‘티어2’ 기관은 추가보육 지원(창업패키지, 입주공간 등)을, ‘티어3’ 기관은 공통 간접 지원(규제샌드박스, 공공조달, 녹색금융, 보증, 특허 등)을 담당한다.
직접 선발 및 창업 사업화 지원을 하는 티어1 기관은 크게 ‘보육 중심 기관’과 ‘투자 중심 기관’으로 구성되어 있으며, 한국사회투자는 투자를 담당하는 민간투자사로 활동한다. 보육을 담당하는 기관으로는 과학기술사업화진흥원, 기술보증기금, 신용보증기금, LG사이언스파크, SK텔레콤, 특허청 등이 있다.
한국사회투자는 2012년 설립된 공익법인 임팩트투자사로서 사회문제를 해결하는 스타트업, 사회혁신조직에게 투자, 액셀러레이팅, ESG컨설팅 등을 제공하고 있다. 기후테크 분야 투자 및 액셀러레이팅에 강점을 갖고 있으며, 현재까지 총 698억원의 누적 임팩트투자금(융자, 투자, 그란트 등)을 집행했다. 한국사회투자는 넷제로 챌린지 X의 투자 기관으로서 탄소중립·녹색성장, 기후기술 분야 스타트업을 선발, 투자할 계획이다. 지원 대상은 창업 후 7년 이내 기업으로, 시드(Seed)~ 시리즈 A(Series A) 라운드에 해당하는 기업이다.

Korea Social Investment, Tannokwi Participate in 'Net Zero Challenge X'
Public interest corporation Impact Investment Company Korea Social Investment (CEO Jong-ik Lee, Soon-yeol Lee) announced on the 9th that it will participate in the national carbon neutral project 'Net Zero Challenge X' to accelerate the discovery and investment in climate tech startups.
Net Zero Challenge X is a nationwide carbon neutral project conducted by the Presidential Committee on Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth 2050 (hereinafter referred to as the “CGC”). It was created to contribute to carbon neutrality and strengthen green growth by discovering startups with “innovative technologies” in the fields of greenhouse gas reduction and climate crisis adaptation and providing various benefits to help them grow into unicorn companies.
This project is being jointly promoted by the Korea Green Technology Institute, related ministries, companies, and related organizations, and a support system has been established with Tier 1, 2, and 3 organizations based on the activities of each organization. First, ‘Tier 1’ organizations are in charge of direct selection and startup commercialization support (incubation, investment, etc.), ‘Tier 2’ organizations provide additional incubation support (startup packages, space for moving in, etc.), and ‘Tier 3’ organizations are in charge of common indirect support (regulatory sandbox, public procurement, green finance, guarantees, patents, etc.).
Tier 1 institutions that directly select and support startup commercialization are largely composed of 'incubation-centered institutions' and 'investment-centered institutions', and Korea Social Investment operates as a private investment company in charge of investment. Institutions in charge of incubation include the Korea Science and Technology Commercialization Promotion Agency, the Korea Technology Finance Corporation, the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund, LG Science Park, SK Telecom, and the Korean Intellectual Property Office.
Established in 2012, Korea Social Investment is a public interest corporation and impact investment firm that provides investment, acceleration, ESG consulting, etc. to startups and social innovation organizations that solve social problems. It has strengths in investment and acceleration in the climate tech field, and has executed a total of 69.8 billion won in cumulative impact investment funds (loans, investments, grants, etc.) to date. As an investment institution for the Net Zero Challenge X, Korea Social Investment plans to select and invest in startups in the fields of carbon neutrality, green growth, and climate technology. Startups selected for the Net Zero Challenge X project by Tier 1 institutions will receive additional support from Tier 2 institutions and common indirect support from Tier 3 institutions. They will be eligible for customized support such as regulatory exceptions, public procurement, green finance, guarantees, mentoring/networking, and IP integrated solutions, and can receive various support necessary in the process of growing their business. 公益法人インパクト投資会社韓国社会投資（代表イ・ジョンイク、イ・スンヨル）は、汎国家炭素中立プロジェクト「ネットゼロチャレンジX」に参加し、気候テックスタートアップへの発掘と投資にスピードを上げると9日明らかにした。
ネットゼロチャレンジXは、大統領直属の2050炭素中立緑成長委員会（以下「タン緑位」）が進行する汎国家炭素中立プロジェクトだ。温室効果ガス削減及び気候危機適応分野「革新技術」を保有したスタートアップを発掘し、ユニコーン企業に成長できるように多様な特典を提供することで、炭素中立に寄与し、グリーン成長を強化するために設けられた。
本プロジェクトは、炭緑委、関係省庁、企業、関連機関などが協力して共同推進しており、各機関の活動に応じてティア（Tier）1、2、3機関で支援体系が構築されている。まず「ティア1」機関は直接選抜および創業事業化支援(保育、投資など)を担当し、「ティア2」機関は追加保育支援(創業パッケージ、入居スペースなど)を、「ティア3」機関は共通間接支援(規制サンドボックス、公共調達、グリーン金融、保証、特許など)を担当する。
直接選抜および創業事業化支援をするティア1機関は大きく「保育中心機関」と「投資中心機関」で構成されており、韓国社会投資は投資を担当する民間投資会社として活動する。保育を担当する機関としては、科学技術事業化振興院、技術保証基金、信用保証基金、LGサイエンスパーク、SKテレコム、特許庁などがある。
