RF 반도체 전문 기업 ㈜웨이비스(WAVICE)는 9일, 한화시스템과 약 130억 원 규모의 FFX Batch-IV(울산급 배치-IV) 다기능 레이더용 송신 모듈 공급 계약을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
이번 계약은 방위사업청과 해군이 추진 중인 FFX Batch-IV 호위함 사업의 일환으로, 기존 포항급 초계함 및 울산급 호위함의 교체와 광개토대왕급 구축함 대체를 포함하는 대규모 사업이다. 웨이비스는 계약에 따라 향후 함정 건조 일정에 맞춰 후속함에도 추가 공급 가능성이 있을 것으로 전망된다.
웨이비스는 앞서 FFX Batch-III(충남급) 프로젝트에도 참여해 다기능 레이더용 송신 모듈을 납품한 바 있으며, 당시 제품의 성능과 신뢰성, 양산 체계를 입증한 경험이 있다. 특히 2023년 7월에는 FFX Batch-III 사업과 관련해 344억 원 규모의 질화갈륨(GaN) RF 모듈 양산 계약을 체결해 현재 생산이 진행 중이다.
웨이비스는 국내에서 유일하게 질화갈륨 RF 반도체를 자체 생산할 수 있는 역량을 보유하고 있으며, 해당 기술은 고출력과 고신뢰성이 요구되는 군용 다기능 레이더 분야에 적용되고 있다.
회사 관계자에 따르면, 이번 FFX Batch-IV 공급 계약은 웨이비스의 기술력과 국산화 역량을 기반으로 한 지속적인 방산 사업 확대의 일환으로, 향후 해상 플랫폼 외에도 다양한 방위 체계로의 적용이 가능할 것으로 보고 있다.
한편 웨이비스는 현재 해군 구축함 체계개발 사업에도 참여 중이며, 향후 양산 단계 진입이 예상된다. 이외에도 항공기용 레이더, 지대공 유도무기 시스템용 다기능 레이더 등 다수의 국방 관련 프로젝트에 기술을 공급하고 있다.

Wayvis Signs Contract to Supply Key Components for Navy's Next-Generation Frigate
RF semiconductor specialist WAVICE announced on the 9th that it signed a contract with Hanwha Systems worth approximately 13 billion won to supply transmitter modules for the FFX Batch-IV (Ulsan-class Batch-IV) multi-function radar.
This contract is part of the FFX Batch-IV frigate project being promoted by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration and the Navy, and is a large-scale project that includes the replacement of the existing Pohang-class corvettes and Ulsan-class frigates and the replacement of the Gwanggaeto the Great-class destroyers. It is expected that Wayvis will be able to supply additional follow-up ships in accordance with the future ship construction schedule according to the contract.
Wayvis previously participated in the FFX Batch-III (Chungnam-level) project and supplied a transmitter module for a multi-function radar, and has experience proving the performance, reliability, and mass production system of the product at the time. In particular, in July 2023, a contract for mass production of gallium nitride (GaN) RF modules worth 34.4 billion won was signed in relation to the FFX Batch-III project, and production is currently in progress.
Wayvis is the only company in Korea capable of producing gallium nitride RF semiconductors on its own, and the technology is being applied to military multi-function radars that require high output and high reliability.
According to company officials, this FFX Batch-IV supply contract is part of Wayvis’ continued expansion of its defense business based on its technological prowess and domestic production capabilities, and is expected to be applicable to various defense systems in addition to maritime platforms in the future.
Meanwhile, Wayvis is currently participating in the naval destroyer system development project, and is expected to enter the mass production stage in the future. In addition, it is supplying technology to a number of defense-related projects, including aircraft radar and multi-function radar for surface-to-air guided weapon systems.

会社関係者によると、今回のFFX Batch-IV供給契約はウェイビスの技術力と国産化能力を基盤とした持続的な放散事業拡大の一環で、今後の海上プラットフォームの他にも様々な防衛システムへの適用が可能であると見ている。
一方、ウェイビスは現在海軍駆逐艦体系開発事業にも参加中であり、今後の量産段階への参入が予想される。他にも航空機用レーダー、地対空誘導武器システム用多機能レーダーなど多数の国防関連プロジェクトに技術を供給している。

Le spécialiste des semi-conducteurs RF WAVICE a annoncé le 9 avoir signé un contrat avec Hanwha Systems d'une valeur d'environ 13 milliards de wons pour la fourniture de modules émetteurs pour le radar multifonction FFX Batch-IV (Ulsan-class Batch-IV).
Ce contrat s'inscrit dans le cadre du projet de frégate FFX Batch-IV, promu par la Defense Acquisition Program Administration et la Marine. Il s'agit d'un projet de grande envergure qui comprend le remplacement des corvettes de classe Pohang et des frégates de classe Ulsan, ainsi que des destroyers de classe Gwanggaeto the Great. Wayvis devrait être en mesure de fournir des navires de suivi supplémentaires conformément au calendrier de construction prévu par le contrat.
