초기 기업 전문 투자사 더벤처스(대표 김철우)는 말레이시아의 중고 전자기기 유통 스타트업 ‘쓰리캣(3cat)’에 프리A 라운드 후속 투자를 단행했다고 16일 밝혔다. 이번 투자는 2024년 시드 투자에 이은 연속 참여다.
이번 라운드에는 더벤처스를 비롯해 임팩트 투자사 래디컬 펀드(Radical Fund), 일본 유통 대기업 이온(AEON CO BHD.) 계열 투자사 등이 새롭게 참여했으며, 기존 투자자인 실리콘밸리 기반 이터레이티브(Iterative)와 글로벌 초기 투자사 TA벤처스(TA Ventures)도 다시 투자에 나섰다. 투자 금액은 비공개다.
쓰리캣은 전자기기 수거, 점검, 수리, 검증, 판매까지의 전 과정을 자체적으로 운영하는 옴니채널 기반 플랫폼을 제공하고 있다. 오프라인 매장과 온라인 플랫폼, 물류 시스템을 연계해 중고 전자기기 유통의 신뢰성과 효율성을 동시에 확보하고 있으며, 말레이시아 내에서는 드물게 품질 관리 체계를 기반으로 한 매장 운영 방식을 도입했다.
더벤처스는 2024년 초, 쓰리캣이 말레이시아 내 오프라인 매장 2개를 운영하던 시점에 시드 투자를 진행했다. 이후 약 10개월 만에 쓰리캣은 매장 수를 21개로 확장했으며, 자체 수리와 검증을 통한 품질 보증 시스템 및 정돈된 매장 운영을 바탕으로 브랜드 신뢰도를 높이고 있다.
더벤처스 김대현 파트너는 “쓰리캣은 핵심 운영 프로세스를 외주화하지 않고 자체적으로 설계·운영하며 실행력을 입증한 팀”이라며 “소비자 경험에 직접 영향을 미치는 구조를 주도적으로 구축해온 점이 인상적”이라고 평가했다.
쓰리캣 공동창업자 칼 루(Karl Loo)는 “중고 전자기기 시장에서 신뢰는 핵심 요소이며, 쓰리캣은 온라인과 오프라인을 통합한 옴니채널 전략을 통해 말레이시아 내 유통 플랫폼 신뢰도를 구축하고 있다”고 말했다. 그는 또한 “이번 투자를 바탕으로 기술 시스템 고도화와 전국 단위 매장 확장에 박차를 가할 계획”이라고 밝혔다.

The Ventures Invests in Malaysian Used Electronics Startup ‘Threecat’
The Ventures (CEO Kim Chul-woo) , an early-stage investment firm, announced on the 16th that it has conducted a follow-up pre-A round investment in Malaysian used electronics distribution startup '3cat'. This investment is a consecutive participation following the 2024 seed investment.
This round was newly participated by The Ventures, impact investment firm Radical Fund, and investment firms affiliated with Japanese distribution giant AEON CO BHD., while existing investors Silicon Valley-based Iterative and global early-stage investment firm TA Ventures also invested again. The investment amount was not disclosed.
Threecat provides an omnichannel-based platform that operates the entire process of collecting, inspecting, repairing, verifying, and selling electronic devices. It secures reliability and efficiency in the distribution of used electronic devices by linking offline stores, online platforms, and logistics systems, and has introduced a store operation method based on a quality management system, which is rare in Malaysia.
The Ventures made a seed investment in early 2024, when Threecat was operating two offline stores in Malaysia. In about 10 months, Threecat expanded the number of stores to 21, and is increasing brand reliability based on a quality assurance system through in-house repair and verification, and organized store operations.
Daehyun Kim, a partner at The Ventures, said, “Threecat is a team that has proven its execution capabilities by designing and operating core operational processes in-house rather than outsourcing them,” adding, “It is impressive that they have proactively built a structure that directly affects the consumer experience.”
“Trust is key in the used electronics market, and Threecat is building a trusted distribution platform in Malaysia through an omnichannel strategy that integrates online and offline,” said Karl Loo, co-founder of Threecat. “With this investment, we plan to accelerate the advancement of our technology system and the expansion of our stores nationwide.”

The Ventures (PDG : Kim Chul-woo) , société d'investissement spécialisée dans les startups en phase de démarrage, a annoncé le 16 juin avoir réalisé un investissement complémentaire pré-A dans la start-up malaisienne de distribution de produits électroniques d'occasion « 3cat ». Cet investissement fait suite à l'investissement d'amorçage de 2024.
Ce tour de table a bénéficié de la participation de The Ventures, de la société d'investissement d'impact Radical Fund et de sociétés d'investissement affiliées au géant japonais de la distribution AEON CO BHD. Les investisseurs existants, Iterative, basé dans la Silicon Valley, et TA Ventures, société mondiale d'investissement en phase de démarrage, ont également réinvesti. Le montant de l'investissement n'a pas été divulgué.
Threecat propose une plateforme omnicanal qui gère l'intégralité du processus de collecte, d'inspection, de réparation, de vérification et de vente d'appareils électroniques. Elle garantit la fiabilité et l'efficacité de la distribution des appareils électroniques d'occasion en reliant les magasins physiques, les plateformes en ligne et les systèmes logistiques. Elle a également mis en place un système de gestion de la qualité, une pratique rare en Malaisie.
The Ventures a réalisé un investissement initial début 2024, alors que Threecat exploitait deux magasins physiques en Malaisie. En une dizaine de mois, Threecat a porté le nombre de ses magasins à 21 et renforce la fiabilité de sa marque grâce à un système d'assurance qualité incluant des réparations et des vérifications en interne, ainsi qu'à une gestion opérationnelle optimisée des magasins.
Daehyun Kim, associé chez The Ventures, a déclaré : « Threecat est une équipe qui a prouvé ses capacités d'exécution en concevant et en exploitant les processus opérationnels de base en interne plutôt qu'en les externalisant », ajoutant : « Il est impressionnant qu'ils aient construit de manière proactive une structure qui affecte directement l'expérience du consommateur. »
