
Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (CEO Won-kyung Kim) announced that they held the ‘Climate Tech Seminar ON’ at the Pangyo Startup Zone on August 28.
The seminar, held under the theme "Gyeonggi RE100: From Regional Cooperation to Global Competitiveness," discussed regional cooperation strategies and industry-specific response measures for RE100 implementation. Experts from various fields attended to share the current status and future prospects of the RE100 ecosystem and provide insights for climate tech startups and companies to strengthen their global competitiveness.
At the seminar, Koo Dae-wan, Head of the Hwaseong Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Yeom Yun-ho, LCA Specialist at Glass Dome Korea, presented the "Gyeonggi RE100 Promotion Strategy through the Gyeonggi Climate and Environment Council," suggesting directions for cooperation between local communities and businesses. Kim Do-yeon, Manager at IBK Financial Group, introduced the financial sector's RE100 achievement plan and support strategies. Ji Young-seung, Director at the Korea RE100 Council, explained the current status of RE100 implementation in domestic industries and the future direction of Gyeonggi RE100. Furthermore, Go Ah-young, Manager at the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, discussed the impact of the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) on domestic companies and the response strategies of climate tech startups.
The panel discussion brought together business, policy, finance, and technology experts to discuss in-depth collaboration models and implementation plans for achieving RE100 and responding to CBAM.
An official from the Gyeonggi Innovation Center said, “This seminar has provided a venue for cooperation among industry, academia, research, and government to achieve RE100 and respond to CBAM,” and added, “We will continue to support climate tech startups so that they can become competitive in the global market and achieve sustainable growth.”
