Adin Robotics (CEO Choi Hyeok-ryeol, Lee Yun-haeng) , a company specializing in robot parts and solutions, announced on the 1st that it has been selected as the lead organization for a national research and development (R&D) project to develop a humanoid robot equipped with a robot hand specialized for logistics environments.
The project aims to develop a K-Logistics humanoid robot equipped with a high-sensitivity robot hand based on a multimodal AI foundation model. A total of 5.1 billion won (including approximately 4.1 billion won in government funding) is expected to be invested. The project will run until 2028, and CJ Logistics, the Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI), and Sungkyunkwan University are participating as joint research institutions.
For this project, AIDIN Robotics plans to develop a high-sensitivity robotic hand (AIDIN-Hand) that functions as a robot hand. This will be combined with the Korea Electronics Technology Institute's multimodal AI foundation model to create an intelligent robotic system optimized for logistics tasks. Sungkyunkwan University will be responsible for collecting data and verifying performance in a real-world logistics environment.
In particular, AIDIN Robotics' proprietary AIDIN-Hand boasts precision manipulation capabilities similar to the human hand. It is designed to perform complex tasks, such as packaging, sorting, and material insertion, that are difficult for existing automated systems to handle. Furthermore, the company plans to increase its applicability to real-world applications through simulation-based operational technology.
Adin Robotics previously signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with CJ Logistics in September 2023 to jointly develop logistics robotic solutions, and this project will further expand their partnership. The logistics humanoid robot developed through this project is expected to contribute to addressing labor shortages in logistics sites, improving work safety, and increasing automation efficiency.
Lee Yoon-haeng, CEO of Adin Robotics, said, “Through this project, we have established a foundation for Adin Robotics’ physical AI technology to be practically applied in the logistics industry.” He added, “By combining a high-sensitivity robot hand and AI-based control technology, we will present a new innovative model in the field of logistics automation.”
