Vincen Receives NTQ Certification for 100kW Marine Hydrogen Fuel Cell

Vincen Co., Ltd. (CEO Chil-Hwan Lee), a company specializing in eco-friendly ship propulsion systems, announced on the 14th that its 100kW class ship hydrogen fuel cell power facility received New Technology Qualification (NTQ) certification from the Korean Register of Shipping (KR).

Vincen's 100kW hydrogen fuel cell power facility uses the polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) method to achieve high power density and heat management efficiency. It also features an integrated design for cooling, air, and hydrogen supply systems, enabling stable power supply even in harsh maritime conditions such as high and low temperatures.

With this certification, Vincen plans to actively pursue subsequent technological advancements, including onboard demonstrations, Type Approval (TA) procedures, and the development of large-capacity 250kW and 2MW fuel cell systems. Furthermore, the company aims to gradually introduce intelligent energy management, real-time performance monitoring, and predictive maintenance technologies, and to build an eco-friendly, digital ship ecosystem linked to smart ports.

Lee Chil-hwan, CEO of Vincen, said, “With the KR NTQ certification, the technological perfection and safety of our independently developed fuel cell propulsion system has been officially recognized.” He added, “We will pursue actual ship installation demonstrations and type approval, and lead the global eco-friendly ship market through the development of 250kW and 2MW classes.”

KR’s Kim Yeon-tae, head of headquarters, said, “Hydrogen fuel cells are attracting attention as a key technology for marine decarbonization, and we will continue to conduct technology verification and cooperate to ensure the safe operation of Vincen’s system.”
