Green Plus announced that it has secured a new contract for a smart farm project worth approximately 3.3 billion won from the Japan Facility Agriculture Training Center. The project site, located in Satte City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan, will be a large-scale facility measuring 9,018 pyeong (approximately 300 sq ft).
This project consists of a 2.1 billion won smart greenhouse construction project and a 1.2 billion won heating system installation project. Green Plus will be responsible for the integrated design of heating, ventilation, and cultivation environments in the Japanese market, a market with high technological barriers to entry, and plans to meet the local demand for high-value-added facility farming.
The Japanese smart farm market is experiencing a surge in automation and large-scale expansion, driven by an aging population and labor shortages. According to data from the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the market size is estimated at approximately 340 billion yen by 2025, and the number of agricultural workers is decreasing by approximately 100,000 each year. With data utilization rates hovering around 17%, demand for digital transformation is growing significantly. The Japanese government is promoting a smart farm package policy aimed at disseminating ICT to all farms by 2030, strengthening infrastructure and training programs.
Green Plus evaluated this project as significant in terms of entering Japan's advanced smart farm market and securing technological references. A company representative stated, "The continuous orders received in the Japanese market demonstrate the trust in our technological capabilities. We will accelerate the growth of our overseas business by expanding local orders in the future."
