Quantum standard technology specialist SDT (CEO Jiwon Yoon) announced on the 4th that it signed a 'Regional Defense AI and Quantum Basic Demonstration Research Business Agreement (MOU)' with the 5th Infantry Division of the Army, Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi-do, and the Divisional Combat of the Spear Tip.
This agreement aims to respond to the era of transformation driven by AI and quantum technologies, build mutually cooperative relationships leveraging the expertise of the participating organizations, and contribute to the creation of a defense AI and quantum ecosystem in border regions.
The four organizations, including SDT, plan to focus on expanding their research base, including regional defense AI and quantum verification research, field-based military needs-based AI and quantum technology discovery and application experiments, regional strategy development advisory, cooperation in fostering specialized human resources, and the establishment of a public relations and external cooperation network.
This agreement is based on a joint military (5th Division), industry (SDT), academia (Spear Tip Combat), and government (Yeoncheon County), with SDT responsible for AI and quantum security technologies. Combining Yeoncheon County's geographical border region, the 5th Division's practical operational needs, and Spear Tip Combat's strategic research capabilities, the agreement will establish a regionally tailored, cutting-edge technology verification research system.
Yoon Ji-won, CEO of SDT, said, “Through collaboration with the 5th Division, Yeoncheon County, and the Spearhead Combat Team, which have been leading the way in applying AI technology, we will verify the potential of SDT’s AI and quantum technologies in the defense sector,” adding, “We will continue to play an exemplary role in leading the regional advanced defense ecosystem.”
