Inercia's "Labocell" Wins the Korea Women Inventors Association President's Award at the Korea Invention Patent Exhibition

Inersia announced that its eco-friendly, super-absorbent material technology, LABOCELL®, won the Korea Women Inventors Association President's Award at the 2025 Korea Invention and Patent Fair. The Korea Invention and Patent Fair, hosted by the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) and the Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA), is Korea's largest invention and patent competition. Winners are selected through a comprehensive evaluation of technological merit, business feasibility, marketability, and industrial contribution.

Labocell, an eco-friendly bio-absorbent that can replace existing SAPs (polymer absorbents), has been commercialized in Inercia's flagship product, "The Prism Organic Sanitary Napkins." Beyond sanitary napkins, it can be used in a variety of applications, including diapers, medical pads, and food packaging, and has received high praise for its high added value creation and business diversification.

Labocell is also attracting attention in terms of economic impact. The biodegradable sanitary pad market is rapidly expanding, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 22.8%. Labocell has obtained international certifications from the USDA and TÜV, and is sold in overseas markets, particularly in Europe and North America. It has also secured global intellectual property competitiveness through domestic and international patent registrations and PCT applications.

In terms of contribution to national industrial development, Labocell is a biodegradable, highly absorbent material developed by researchers from KAIST using purely domestic technology, and has been recognized for its contribution to strengthening the technological independence of the domestic eco-friendly material industry and fostering the high value-added biomaterial industry.

A company official said, “We will continue to grow as a brand that improves women’s lives through science and technology.”
