Full-stack future mobility platform company IL (CEO Song Seong-geun) announced on the 18th that it has signed a strategic cooperation (MOU) with domestic AI company Saltlux to secure leadership in physical AI data centered on humanoids and intelligent robots.
This collaboration is significant not only because it goes beyond a simple technology partnership, but also because it is a strategic partnership focused on securing and controlling real-world data, a key element in the physical AI race. The two companies' strategy is to combine their robotics platforms with Foundation AI to build a domestically-led physical AI ecosystem, free from reliance on overseas big tech companies.
IL is responsible for the hardware and software development and field operation of humanoid and intelligent robot platforms. It directly captures data generated from robot behavior, sensors, and environmental interactions. This data is utilized as high-quality real-world data for physical AI learning.
Saltlux develops physical AI foundation models and conducts large-scale learning research based on data generated from IL's robotics platform. By advancing multimodal inference and behavioral models, the company aims to implement intelligent AI that enables robots to make autonomous decisions and move in real-world environments.
This collaboration is evaluated as a long-term platform model, designed to create a virtuous cycle of "increased robot count → data accumulation → enhanced AI performance → increased platform value." The two companies plan to expand the scope of physical AI applications to manufacturing, logistics, urban infrastructure, and the public sector, and jointly develop customized solutions for each industry and advance into the global market. Furthermore, they will establish a data governance system to strengthen their leadership in data utilization and expansion.
An IL official said, “The essence of AI competition is not algorithms, but data accumulated in actual physical environments,” and added, “Through this collaboration, we will dominate the field where physical AI data is generated, and Saltlux will build AI that learns from that data and evolves.”
A Saltlux representative emphasized, "The high-quality real-world data generated by IL's robotics platform is a key asset for creating globally competitive physical AI models." IL's Chairman Song Seong-geun added, "While AI can catch up, the first company to secure the physical world, where data accumulates, will dominate."
