
Generative AI startup 42Maru (CEO Dong-Hwan Kim) announced on the 19th that it received the Minister of Science and ICT's Award for 'Contribution to the Development of the Cloud Industry in 2025' at the opening ceremony of the '2025 Data and Cloud Promotion Week' held at COEX in Samseong-dong on the 18th.
The "Cloud Industry Development Award," hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, recognizes companies and individuals who have contributed to the promotion of domestic cloud usage, technological development, and industry development. Forty2Maru CEO Kim Dong-hwan was recognized for his early commercialization of cloud- and SaaS-based generative AI technology and for leading the public-private AI Transformation (AX) initiative.
Forty2Maru develops and distributes domain-specific lightweight giant language models (LLM42), augmented search generation (RAG42), and artificial intelligence comprehension (MRC42) solutions as SaaS, creating an environment where companies can adopt AI without incurring upfront costs. It also expanded its global presence to the US, UK, and Middle East by launching "DocuAgent42," a plug-and-play agentic workflow AI solution, and "SiteBunny," a global B2B2C SaaS service.
CEO Kim Dong-hwan served as an expert member of key government committees, including the Presidential Committee on National Artificial Intelligence Strategy and the Digital Platform Government Committee, contributing to the establishment of national cloud and AI policies. He also expanded the scope of the domestic cloud ecosystem by participating in projects such as NEOM City in Saudi Arabia and Sharjah Digital Authority in the UAE in cooperation with domestic CSPs such as Naver Cloud.
FortiTumaru offers a solution for safely leveraging massive AI without the risk of internal data or sensitive information leaks through its Private Mode for businesses, while also improving cost efficiency. It also demonstrates its social responsibility by offering free AI chatbot services and recruiting young talent.
