L&F Wins Grand Prize in the Manufacturing Sector at the 33rd Safety Management Awards

L&F announced on the 22nd that its Guji 1 plant won the Minister of Employment and Labor Award in the manufacturing sector of the 33rd Safety Management Awards.

The 'Safety Management Award' is the most prestigious award in the domestic safety management field, jointly hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and Maeil Business Newspaper. It is presented to companies that have set an example in establishing a systematic safety and health management system and in industrial accident prevention activities.

Guji Plant 1, located in Dalseong County, Daegu, has expanded and strengthened its safety and health organization based on the management's commitment to prioritizing safety and health. It has also established a self-directed safety culture based on employee participation. This has resulted in the company achieving a "triple zero" rate of industrial accidents, similar accidents, and major disasters, earning recognition for its tangible safety management achievements.

L&F has implemented a company-wide safety management system and strengthened its on-site execution capabilities. Safety and health items have been incorporated into all employee KPIs, and on-site safety management has been systematized through training and evaluation of managers and supervisors. Workers participate in risk assessments to identify and address risk factors, and a participatory incentive system has been implemented to promote voluntary safety activities.

The safety training system was established from the hiring stage, focusing on the field. Special safety and health training and emergency response training were provided to new employees on a regular basis, and collaboration with relevant organizations was strengthened. Employee health management and work environment improvements were also implemented, resulting in a 47% improvement in health indicators and a 9.8-point employee satisfaction rating.

Our win-win safety management with our partners has also been successful. Through the "Safety Check-Pass" system, we implemented step-by-step safety management and supported the spread of safety culture among our partners through consulting and best practice sharing sessions. As a result, 33 partner companies recorded zero industrial accidents during the evaluation period.

In addition, the level of on-site safety has been improved by utilizing digital technologies such as the AI-based safety and health chatbot 'Lucid', the AI smart forklift system, and the data-centric safety management system based on smart factories.

L&F Guji Plant 1 Manager Jeong Ho-jun said, “This award is the result of the entire organization recognizing safety as a core management principle and a shared responsibility,” and added, “We plan to continue to strengthen our autonomous safety culture and pursue win-win safety management with our partners.”
