Happiness Alliance Signs Agreement with Gwangju Dong-gu for "Happy Axe Project"

Social contribution network Happy Alliance (Secretariat: Happy Narae Co., Ltd.) is continuing the success story of the public-private cooperation model by signing the 145th agreement for the 'Happy Axe Project' with Dong-gu, Gwangju.

At the signing ceremony held at the Dong-gu Office in Gwangju on the 20th, Gwangju Dong-gu Office Mayor Lim Taek, Happy Narae Co., Ltd. Headquarters Director Jo Min-yeong, and Happy Lunchbox Social Cooperative Secretary General Choi Jun attended and promised to participate in supporting children at risk of hunger.

Launched in 2020, the Happy Axe Project is a social contribution program that builds a social safety net for children at risk of hunger. It utilizes a "Collective Impact" approach, where stakeholders with diverse expertise and resources collaborate. To date, it has provided 1.9 million meals to approximately 8,400 children.

Under this agreement, a total of 14,000 nutritious lunch boxes will be provided over the course of one year to 40 children at risk of starvation in Dong-gu, Gwangju. After the program ends, the children will be incorporated into the Dong-gu meal system, providing ongoing support.

The agreement combines the administrative power of the local government, the financial resources of the companies, and the expertise of the social enterprise in lunchbox manufacturing and delivery. Gwangju Dong-gu District will identify and select children in underserved areas of social welfare, while participating companies in the Happy Alliance will contribute a budget for lunchbox support. The Happy Lunchbox Social Cooperative will be responsible for manufacturing and delivery, while the Happy Alliance will oversee the project and support stakeholder collaboration.

Cho Min-young, CEO of Happy Narae Co., Ltd., said, “The problem of children at risk of starvation is a task that the entire society must solve together,” and added, “We will continue to create social value by collaborating with various stakeholders to solve social problems that are difficult for the government and the private sector to solve alone.”
