Altos Ventures announced on the 7th that it held the "AI Builder Salon" at Tartin Itaewon in Seoul on November 6th, together with Anthropic, the developer of the generative AI "Claude," and Saehan Venture Investment. The event was designed as a platform for networking, connecting Korea's AI startup and developer ecosystem with global AI leaders.
Anthropic co-founder Benjamin Mann attended the event and presented the latest development and creative cases utilizing Claude. Approximately 150 developers, startup founders, and technology leaders attended, engaging in a lively Q&A session and networking.
The event began with Choju Kennedy, Head of Startup Partnerships at Antropic, formalizing the company's entry into the Korean market. He stated, "Korea is a key market for the expansion of the Cloud ecosystem," adding, "Companies developing innovative applications based on Cloud, such as TainAI and Coxwave, are rapidly emerging in the Asian region."
The Fireside Chat that followed featured an in-depth discussion centered on the transformation brought about by the recently released Claude Code and Model Context Protocol (MCP) to development workflows and creative work. "MCP presents a new interface that allows humans and AI to collaborate within the same development environment," Mann said, predicting that AI will expand beyond code writing to encompass design, testing, and deployment.
The first panel session, "Development with Claude," was moderated by Oh Moon-seok, Partner at Altos Ventures, and featured participation from Viva Republica CBO Kim Gyu-ha, Carrot CTO Jeong Chang-hoon, and Alice Group CEO Kim Jae-won. They shared their practical experiences utilizing Claude code and MCP, emphasizing that AI is evolving from a mere tool to a "real collaborative partner."
The second session, "Claude in the Creative Workflow," was moderated by Saehan Venture Investment Partner Jeon Hoon-pyo, and panelists included Cinnamon CEO Hong Du-seon, Tain AI CEO Lee Su-wan, Mopac Studio CTO Son Oh-hyung, and Studio TEO PD Jang Ho-gi. They discussed innovation in the creative process through the integration of generative AI-based tools and redefining human creativity in the age of conversational AI.
An Altos Ventures official said, “Korean tech startups are leveraging AI to build new forms of collaboration and creative paradigms,” adding, “We hope this event will serve as a turning point for sharing real-world experiences within the Korean AI ecosystem and engaging with global AI leadership.”
