Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Content Agency (GCA) (Director Yongseok Tak, hereinafter referred to as GCA) announced the completion of the "Gyeonggi Global Game Center 10th Anniversary Celebration" held in Pangyo on October 31st. Held in conjunction with "Gyeonggi Game Connect 2025," the event reflected on Gyeonggi Province's game industry support over the past decade and explored future directions for development.
Since its opening in 2016, the Gyeonggi Global Game Center has contributed to the development of the local gaming ecosystem through various initiatives, including startup and incubation programs, overseas market entry support, and artificial intelligence (AI) integration support. The event featured a "10th Anniversary History Exhibition" highlighting the center's key initiatives and achievements. The exhibition also showcased the achievements of seven leading indie game companies that achieved growth through phased support. Participating companies included Kiwi Works, Wonder Potion, Hi-Deer, Lizard Smoothie, Romandav, Freedust, and Team Horay.
The event featured a "Networking Day" attended by approximately 150 global gaming industry experts and stakeholders. Overseas experts included Al Yang, Creative Director of "Silent Hill F," Jason Nuyens, who participated in the development of "Starfield," and Carl Wang, Head of Minigames at ByteDance.
The "Indie Game Ecosystem Talk Show," moderated by Professor Shin Hye-ryun of Myongji University, featured representatives from Lizard Smoothie, Artifact, Smilegate, One Way Ticket Studio, and YouTube, discussing indie game growth strategies and global expansion plans. The panelists emphasized the importance of public support in fostering a stable development environment and fostering the growth of early-stage developers, and emphasized the importance of leveraging AI development tools, diversifying platforms, and expanding global publishing.
Director Tak Yong-seok stated, "The Gyeonggi Global Game Center has been a key platform that has driven the growth of the province's gaming industry for the past 10 years. As a central institution connecting industry, talent, and policy, we will continue to support Gyeonggi Province as it establishes itself as a hub for the domestic gaming industry." To mark its 10th anniversary, the Gyeonggi Global Game Center plans to strengthen its new developer discovery and development programs and enhance its public-private-academic cooperation system.
