RootFinders, a developer of a portal platform specifically for the digitally vulnerable, has been selected for the TIPS R&D General Track, hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. This selection will provide RootFinders with up to 500 million won in research and development (R&D) funding over the next two years, along with approximately 200 million won in additional support, including support for startup commercialization and overseas marketing.
The Tech Incubator Program for Startups (TIPS) is a leading private-sector-led technology startup support program, supporting promising startups with technological prowess and marketability through collaboration between private investors and the government. Rootfinders was selected for this program upon the recommendation of Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, the investor and operator of TIPS.
Rootfinders is currently developing "EasyPlus," a portal platform for the visually impaired. Designed to improve media accessibility for the digitally vulnerable, EasyPlus blocks unnecessary ads and pop-ups and provides a variety of content, including news, games, and commerce, in a format optimized for visually impaired users.
With this TIPS selection, Routefinders plans to fully advance and commercialize voice command-based payment assistance technology. Furthermore, the company plans to expand its accessibility services, centered around EasyPlus, integrating news, shopping, and payments to enhance digital financial accessibility and convenience for visually impaired users.
Kim Jong-guk, CEO of Root Finders, said, “By being selected as TIPS, we have laid the foundation for technological advancement and global expansion,” and added, “We will continue to strive to ensure that all users can experience a safe and convenient mobile payment environment, beyond independent media use by the visually impaired.”
