
Klook, a global accommodation, transportation, and activity booking platform, announced on the 24th that it had signed a sales contract with Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) on the 23rd for a real-time railway ticket reservation service for foreigners.
This collaboration aims to create an environment where foreign tourists can more easily and conveniently use domestic railways, and to establish a virtuous cycle of regional tourism and economic growth utilizing railway infrastructure.
The official reservation service is scheduled to be launched in the first quarter of next year, following system development between the two companies. This service will cover KTX, Mugunghwa, Saemaeul, and other regular trains. This is expected to improve the convenience of international tourists traveling from major metropolitan areas to smaller cities and regional tourist destinations.
Klook supports 15 languages, 40 currencies, and over 40 payment methods, and has experience operating train ticket reservation services in major regions such as Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Europe. In Korea, it has met the regional travel needs of international tourists through its real-time express bus reservation service, and it also offers services for various mobility products, including rental cars, ferries, and airport pickups.
Through this collaboration, Klook plans to create a train ticket booking environment optimized for international travelers and leverage train ticket booking data to enhance its services and develop regionally tailored travel products. Furthermore, Klook plans to increase awareness of its services through integrated marketing activities, including country-specific marketing strategies, seasonal campaigns, digital advertising, and influencer collaborations, leveraging dedicated resources in over 20 countries worldwide.
Klook also has a global customer support system in place. Combining artificial intelligence (AI) technology with over 400 expert consultants who support 15 languages, Klook offers 24-hour customer service. AI-based automated inquiry classification, consultation organization, and translation capabilities enable Klook to quickly respond to inquiries from international tourists.
Lee Jun-ho, Klook Korea Country Manager, said, “The number of reservations for local travel products in the first half of this year increased by 183% compared to the same period last year, and the number of products also increased by about 40%,” and added, “Through our collaboration with KORAIL, we will contribute to the revitalization of local tourism and the growth of the local economy, focusing on railway tourism.”
