The Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSRE, President Jin-yeop Eom) announced that the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSRE, President Seok-jin Kang, hereinafter referred to as KOSRE) has obtained the Human Rights Management System (HRMS) certification as a result of its efforts to promote ethical and human rights management practices.
The Human Rights Management System (HRMS) certification was developed in accordance with the requirements of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), based on the UN Declaration of Human Rights and the National Human Rights Commission's Human Rights Management Guidelines. Certification is granted through an examination by a specialized certification agency on overall matters such as the organization's implementation and continuous improvement of its human rights management process, compliance with laws and regulations, human rights risk analysis, and implementation measures.
On the 29th, a ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency to award the Human Rights Management System Certificate and Certification Plaque, attended by Director Jin-yeop Eom of the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, Director Jeong-sik Ban of the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, and officials from both organizations.
In accordance with the ethics and human rights management promotion plan, the Korea Development Institute has been implementing human rights-friendly management activities to protect the rights of stakeholders both inside and outside the corporation, including ▲ introducing an ethics and human rights management index at a company-wide level, ▲ establishing a sympathy advisory group, ▲ implementing a civil service serial conversion system, ▲ expanding the number of experts under the wage peak system, ▲ increasing emergency management funds, and ▲ providing financial support to respond to changes in the trade environment.
In addition, to internalize and culturalize human rights management, the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency is striving to continuously activate communication by operating various human rights management feedback channels such as the online newspaper archive ‘Gonggam Bulletin Board Integrity Decibel’, holding on-site communication meetings for the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency, and strengthening the three major capabilities (communication, sharing, and education).
Chairman Kang Seok-jin said, “This human rights management system certification is a recognition that our company-wide efforts to practice human rights-friendly management are in line with global standards and government requirements.” He added, “We will take the lead in spreading a culture of respect for and protection of human rights and become an organization trusted by the public.”
President Jin-Yeop Eom emphasized, “The Korea SMEs and Startups Agency is a strong pillar supporting the growth and development of small and medium-sized enterprises and is a pivotal institution in the Korean industrial sector,” and added, “I hope that this certification will help it leap forward as a leader in the public sector that leads the sustainable development of not only small and medium-sized enterprises but also our society.”
