Jeju Center Hosts Joint IR Event for Startups and Busines

The Jeju Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (CEO Lee Byeong-seon, hereinafter referred to as the Jeju Center) announced that it held a "Startup-BuS Joint IR" as part of the "JOIN 2025" event held at the Jeju Booyoung Hotel on September 1st. The event was designed to support promising deep-tech startups in attracting initial investment, connecting them with follow-up investments, and fostering tangible growth.

'JOIN 2025' is a global entrepreneurship networking conference linked to the APEC SME Ministerial Meeting. Approximately 500 people, including startups, investors, mid-sized companies, and innovation organizations from APEC member countries and domestic and international, will attend, creating a platform for building a cooperative network between the regional and global startup ecosystems.

This IR event consisted of two sessions: ▲Investor Talk and ▲Investor Relations Pitching. The Investor Talk brought together representatives from venture capital (VC) and accelerator (AC) firms, including Professor Myungjae Choi of the KAIST Institute for Startup and Entrepreneurship, Mirae Asset Venture Investment, CJ CheilJedang, and Korea Investment Accelerator, who shared insights into domestic and international investment trends and investment strategies in the deep tech sector.

The IR pitching session that followed featured 16 outstanding deep-tech startups recommended by eight Creative Economy Innovation Centers nationwide, presenting their technologies and market potential. Companies recommended by the Jeju Center included Megaplan Co., Ltd. (possessor of artificial spawning-based smart mackerel aquaculture technology) and Specs Co., Ltd. (a satellite image data analysis service utilizing hyperspectral technology), which received positive responses from on-site investors.

Approximately 70 people, including investment reviewers, attended the event, and participating companies had the opportunity to communicate with various investors through the Investor Day program.

The Jeju Center's "Startup-BuS" program discovers deep-tech startups in fields such as aerospace and aviation, green energy, AI, and big data, and provides follow-up support, including nationwide IR opportunities, investment review, and TIPS (Technical Institutional Investor Relations) recommendations. The program targets startups established less than seven years ago, and applications are accepted year-round through the Jeju Center website.

Meanwhile, Startup-BuS, a nationwide startup support program promoted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, launched a pilot program in 2023. A total of 406 companies were discovered and 110 companies attracted approximately KRW 29.6 billion in direct and indirect investment. This year, the Jeju, Gangwon, and Gyeongnam centers were added, bringing the total number of participating centers to eight.

Jeju Center CEO Lee Byeong-seon said, “This joint IR has become an opportunity to expand growth opportunities for startups across the country, including Jeju, and to practically support connections with investors.” He added, “We will continue to discover promising startups in the deep tech field and support them to become globally competitive.”
