BRISM X ESILO X BN BITCHY EYEWARE X BIJOOWORKS, 4-Party Business Agreement Signed

Breeze announced on the 22nd that it signed a four-party business agreement (MOU) with B&B Eye Clinic, Essilor Korea, and Bijouworks for the purpose of joint clinical trials and research to suppress the progression of pediatric myopia.

Myopia is a disease in which the focus is focused in front of the retina on the retina. Recently, the number of myopia patients has been rapidly increasing due to the increase in smart device use and decrease in outdoor activities. The Briden Holden Vision Institute (BHVI) in Australia predicted that half of the world's population will suffer from myopia by 2050. In particular, the rate of myopia in children and adolescents in Korea is high. According to a 2023 announcement in the British Medical Journal (BMJ), the myopia rate in Korea for children and adolescents aged 5 to 19 was approximately 74%, the second highest after Japan.

Early management is important because childhood myopia goes beyond the inconvenience of wearing glasses and increases the risk of developing eye diseases such as macular degeneration, cataracts, and glaucoma. This MOU plans to cooperate based on expertise in each field to suppress the progression of childhood myopia.

BRISM provides personalized eyewear solutions and conducts research to improve eyewear design to match the rapid physical development of children. Through this, the effectiveness of myopia suppression lenses will be verified and customized eyewear suitable for children’s daily activities will be provided.

Based on 580,000 fundus data accumulated over 31 years, B&B Eye Clinic systematically manages the progression of pediatric myopia and provides customized vision correction solutions. Essilor Korea plans to provide effective support by combining Bijouworks' AI technology and Breezm's customized eyewear solutions to provide the myopia suppression lens 'Stellist'.

Bijouworks aims to develop a myopia progression prediction program using AI technology and analyze optometry data to increase the possibility of preventing childhood myopia and related diseases.

“We hope that this four-party agreement and joint research can make a real contribution to solving the problem of pediatric myopia,” said Park Hyung-jin, CEO of Breeze. “Breeze will utilize its unique technological prowess to provide customized glasses and actively contribute to preventing the progression of myopia.”

Dr. Jin-Guk Kim, the CEO of B&B Eye Clinic, said, “I am very honored to be able to participate in the study to suppress the progression of myopia in children,” and added, “Based on a deep understanding and data on the risks and disease prevention related to myopia progression, we will continue to strive to find better solutions.”
