MediWhale Receives Certification as an Innovative Medical Device Company from the Ministry of Health and Welfare

MediWhale , a medical artificial intelligence company, has been certified as an “innovative leap forward company” according to the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s revised and issued notice on innovative medical device companies.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare designates medical device companies with excellent R&D investment and technological innovation performance as innovative medical device companies based on the Medical Device Industry Act. The goal is to strengthen the competitiveness of the domestic medical device industry and foster companies with technological prowess and growth potential.

MediWhale developed and commercialized "Doctor Noon CVD," the world's first AI solution that predicts cardiovascular disease risk with a simple eye exam and a level of accuracy comparable to a cardiac CT scan. Furthermore, MediWhale has been recognized for its technological innovation and commercialization success, developing a follow-up software pipeline based on retinal AI technology to predict chronic kidney disease, fatty liver disease, and Alzheimer's disease.

This certification will allow MediWhale to receive additional points when applying for government-led R&D projects and market entry support programs, and will also enable it to receive support for joint research and clinical trials with medical institutions and companies when expanding overseas. The certification period is three years, from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2028.

Choi Tae-geun, CEO of MediWhale, said, “With this certification as an opportunity, we plan to accelerate our growth in the global market, including the U.S., in 2026.”
