"How do I sell my company to Google?"…NextRound, a practical M&A training program for buyers and sellers, launches.

"Next Round M&A ( mna.factsheet.kr )," a practical M&A training program co-hosted by Venture Square , Illum Invest , and Factsheet , will open on January 14, 2025, as a four-week program in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. This course focuses on providing practical knowledge for both buyers and sellers through hands-on practice of actual corporate mergers and acquisitions (M&A) cases in a data room.

This training is designed for entrepreneurs, M&A practitioners, investors, and others involved in real-world deals or seeking to strengthen their strategic M&A capabilities. It covers core practical processes within the venture and startup ecosystem, including exit strategy development, valuation, and legal and tax risk management, while also providing networking opportunities.

This course, the first of its kind in the Venture Square Academy program, will be held every Wednesday at 5:00 PM for four weeks. The curriculum includes understanding the M&A ecosystem and market structure, practical valuation, legal and tax management, matching simulations, and case studies of actual deals. All sessions combine theory and practice, and dinner discussions provide opportunities for direct Q&A with the instructors.

As a co-operating entity, Venture Square, a domestic startup media and accelerator, provides deep insights into the startup and venture investment ecosystem. Illum Invest, leveraging its expertise in strategic M&A investments, shares its experience in exit strategies and deal sourcing. Fact Sheet, an AI-powered data room solution, helps participants analyze real-world data and utilize it in case studies.

CEO Noh Jeong-seok, who sold his company to Google, and Director Choi Chung-ryeol, who founded and then sold Glossign, participated as case studies.

Notably, this program will feature Noh Jeong-seok, CEO of Beefactory, who was the first Asian company to sell Tatter & Company to Google and later founded FiveRocks, which was then sold to global company Tapjoy. He will share his practical experience of the M&A process with aspiring entrepreneurs. Also participating will be Choi Chung-ryeol, CSO of Nua and founder of Glossign, a company with a track record of both large-scale and small-scale M&A.

This program was designed at a time when practical M&A capabilities are becoming increasingly important in individual companies' growth and investment recovery strategies. As the global corporate landscape changes, exit and merger and acquisition strategies are emerging as crucial management elements for startups and SMEs seeking to maintain competitiveness. Indeed, consulting reports point out that the average lifespan of a company is shortening, and M&A is emerging as a survival strategy.

The program's faculty includes Myung Seung-eun, CEO of Venture Square; Ji Hyeon-cheol, CEO of Ilum Invest; CPA Jeon Myeong-seok; Factsheet CEO Ham Se-hee; attorney Jang Hyo-jun; and auditor Go Min-cheol. They will share their practical experience across a wide range of areas, including valuation, legal advice, and deal matching strategies.

The management team explained, "This training will provide an opportunity to understand and develop the ability to respond to various situations encountered in real-world deals." Participants are expected to strengthen their M&A capabilities through a practical curriculum and networking opportunities.

The training will be held at "Mobidays" near Yeoksam Station. Registration is limited on a first-come, first-served basis, so interested practitioners and startup professionals are encouraged to apply early. Members of the Early-Stage Investment Accelerator Association and companies in the Venture Square and Aylum Ventures portfolios can receive a 50% discount through referrals.
