Coupang announced on the 26th that it will transition from a system with Kang Han-seung and Park Dae-joon as co-CEOs to a system with Park Dae-joon as sole CEO. CEO Park Dae-joon will be in charge of overall management of Coupang Inc.
CEO Park joined Coupang as the head of policy in 2012, served as Coupang's vice president of policy in 2019, and has been the head of Coupang's new business division since 2020.
CEO Park has led Coupang’s innovative new business and regional infrastructure development, including the expansion of nationwide rocket delivery and large-scale job creation based on AI logistics innovation. Furthermore, he has led various small and medium-sized business sales expansion projects, including the permanent planning center “Good Store” launched in collaboration with several local governments and government agencies, and has taken the lead in developing digital sales channels for small businesses, including local farmers.
In addition, he has led new businesses such as Coupang Eats and Coupang Play, driving innovation in customer experience and leading Coupang's sustainable growth.
Kang Han-seung, who has been in charge of Coupang’s business management division, will be in charge of overall business development in North America and overseas business support. Coupang’s parent company, Coupang Inc., is further accelerating its expansion into global markets, including Taiwan’s Rocket Delivery and luxury e-commerce Papetch, based on its success in the Korean market. Through this appointment, Coupang plans to further expand its nationwide co-op zone based on AI logistics innovation and strengthen its sales channels for small business owners.
