Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to Hold Green Growth Support Project Tour Briefing Session

The government will hold a 'Regional Mobile Briefing Session' to introduce each ministry's green growth support projects for the industrial sector three times from the 22nd to the 29th, in cooperation with related ministries ( Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy) and related organizations.

This briefing session was prepared to comprehensively guide the government's green growth support projects so that domestic companies can respond promptly to international environmental regulations and secure green competitiveness.

The briefing sessions will be held in each region, starting with the Honam region (Yeosu, May 22), followed by the Yeongnam region (Ulsan, May 27), and the metropolitan area (Seoul, May 29).

At the briefing session, business managers from relevant ministries and eight related organizations will introduce the support projects being operated by each organization. The relevant organization managers will explain the target companies, support content, support procedures, etc., and after the briefing session, one-on-one consultations on the support projects will be held for participating companies.

The support projects that will be introduced on this day are a total of 17 projects. By type, they are: national subsidy (6 projects), financial support (5 projects), consulting (3 projects), demonstration support (1 project), education (1 project), and system (1 project). If information on support projects by each ministry is provided in one place through the briefing session, it is expected that companies will be able to find the projects they need with a more comprehensive perspective and take the support procedure.

Seo Young-tae, the Ministry of Environment’s Green Transition Policy Director, said, “Good policies are realized when businesses in the field experience them and participate in them,” and added, “In the future, the government will take further action to provide comprehensive information on support projects and actively support businesses to appropriately respond to international environmental regulations and take the lead in the green market.”

Kang Gam-chan, director general of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s Industrial Policy Bureau, said, “The green transition of major high-emission industries such as steel, petrochemicals, and cement is a key task that is directly related to the nation’s industrial competitiveness.” He added, “Since this briefing session is being held in an area with a high concentration of high-emission industries, I hope that many companies will participate and make the most of the government’s support projects.”

Park Yong-soon, director of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ Technology Innovation Policy Bureau, said, “Not only exporting SMEs, but also collaborating SMEs within the supply chain need to proactively respond to the international community’s implementation of carbon regulations,” adding, “We will expand support in areas such as technology development and finance to strengthen the carbon regulation response capabilities of our SMEs.”
