Vice Minister Kim Sung-seop of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Oh Young-joo, hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of SMEs and Startups) visited Cell Icon Lab Co., Ltd. located in Daejeon on the 28th and listened to voices from the field regarding difficulties faced by exporting SMEs due to US tariff measures and government support policies.
This meeting was attended by Vice Minister Kim Seong-seop, Chairman Seong Min-gyu of the Daejeon-Sejong-Chungnam Export Enterprise Association (Cell Icon Lab, Inc., Main Product: Cosmetics), and representatives of three member export SMEs.
A businessperson who attended the event said, “The domestic economy has been difficult, so we have focused on exports rather than domestic sales, but the frequent changes in U.S. tariff policy have made us confused about how to respond,” emphasizing the need for more preemptive and field-oriented support measures.
Vice Minister Kim Sung-seop said, “The U.S. market is a key axis for our SME exports, so we will not spare support at the level of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups to proactively respond to changes in the trade environment.” He added, “Based on this on-site feedback, we will design export support policies more precisely so that SMEs do not face difficulties depending on the trade environment.”
