Busan Changgyeong, Local Startup Discovery 'Open Innovation Challenge 2025' Held

The Busan Creative Economy Innovation Center (CEO Yongwoo Kim, hereinafter referred to as Busan Creative Economy) announced that it will hold the 'Startup Open Innovation Challenge in Busan 2025' with Busan Metropolitan City to discover promising local startups and provide market verification and business partnership opportunities. Representative companies in Busan, such as Samjin Food Co., Ltd., Willow Pump Co., Ltd., and Jogwang Paint Co., Ltd., participated as partners in this support project.

For this collaboration, Busan Changgyeong and its partners signed a business agreement aimed at discovering and commercializing excellent startups. It is particularly encouraging that Samjin Foods and Willow Pump have formed new partnerships with Busan Changgyeong this year to promote regional open innovation.

The recruitment target is technology and service-based startups located in Busan that have been established for less than 7 years, and companies that operate research labs and offices in Busan can also apply.

▲Jogwang Paint, a representative chemical company in Busan, is recruiting ESG (environment, society, governance) companies and targeting startups with solutions related to sustainability. It is recruiting technologies for collaboration in various fields such as hazardous chemical management, safety and health, waste (waste paint, waste plastic, waste clothing) processing, and greenhouse gas emission management.

▲Willow Pump, a global leader in innovative water solutions, is recruiting startups with smart farm and pump-mountable compact filter technologies. It will focus on smart agriculture-related technologies such as water treatment and complex environmental control system technologies, agricultural environment management apps, and sensor development, and related technologies such as hygienic safety filters that can be attached to pumps will also be included in the recruitment area.

▲Samjin Foods, which operates Samjin Fish Cake, Busan’s representative fish cake brand, is recruiting startups with innovative technologies in the fields of sustainable food and smart manufacturing and distribution. In particular, it plans to actively review technologies related to sustainability, such as the development of alternative raw fish cakes using Blue Food, byproduct utilization technologies, and eco-friendly packaging solutions. It also plans to collaborate with startups in the field of data-based marketing, such as AI-based customized recommendations and online platform advancements.

Startups selected through this support project will be provided with benefits such as a testbed opportunity for their technology, PoC (proof of concept) support funds (approximately 10 million won per company), participation in open innovation events, and networking support.

The recruitment period is from the 29th to May 15th, and online applications can be submitted through the Busan Startup Portal . Startups wishing to apply must submit the required documents, including the application form and company information.
