Seoul Bio Hub announced that it is recruiting companies to participate in the '2025 Seoul Bio Hub Hospital-based Medical Data Utilization Support Project' until April 28th with the goal of strengthening global competitiveness in the bio and medical fields.
This project is a program operated by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and its goal is to link and support joint research with medical institutions so that Seoul-based bio-medical startups can utilize clinical data held by 43 medical data-centered hospitals nationwide for research and development and commercialization. This recruitment is the second implementation following the pilot project in 2024.
Recently, the demand for medical big data and artificial intelligence technology has been increasing, but there are criticisms that medical data is dispersed across institutions and the access process is complicated, making it difficult for startups to actually utilize it. To solve these problems, Seoul Bio Hub provides a foundation for utilizing data accumulated by medical data-centered hospitals designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and actively supports collaboration between companies and hospitals.
The target of this project is small and medium-sized venture companies in the healthcare and medical industry located in Seoul that have been in business for less than 10 years, and a total of about 7 companies will be selected. The selected companies will be provided with a business development support fund of up to 50 million won, which includes practical expenses such as data processing for medical data utilization, expert advice, various fees, and legal advice.
In addition, Seoul Biohub operates various customized growth support programs for companies that move in, including office and research space, cutting-edge equipment, technology commercialization consulting, and support for overseas expansion and investment attraction.
A Seoul Bio Hub official said, “Medical data is an important resource for technological innovation and market expansion of healthcare and medical startups,” and added, “We will strengthen our support so that this project can produce actual research and development and commercialization results.”
Business applications can be submitted online through the official Seoul Bio Hub website .
