Yunggiwon and Gwanggyo Senior Welfare Center Sign Business Agreement

The Next Generation Convergence Technology Research Institute (Director Cha Seok-won, hereinafter referred to as the Convergence Technology Research Institute), a joint corporation of Gyeonggi Province and Seoul National University, announced on the 18th that it signed a business agreement with Gwanggyo Senior Welfare Center to spread regional scientific culture and contribute to the local community.

The two organizations promised to share the resources necessary to spread and support regional scientific culture and to cooperate for mutual development and achievement.

The main contents of the agreement are ▲cooperation in digital education and convergence culture education programs for the elderly ▲cooperation in science and culture diffusion programs based on the Gyeonggi Science and Culture Hub Center of the Yunggiwon ▲technology exchange and research cooperation for welfare of the elderly, etc. Through this, we plan to strengthen the local science and culture capacity and promote activities to revitalize and spread awareness of local science and culture.

The signing ceremony on this day was held at the Gyeonggi Science and Culture Center of the Yunggiwon, attended by key officials including Vice President Bae Su-moon of the Yunggiwon and Director Seo Deok-won of the Gwanggyo Senior Welfare Center.

The Gyeonggi Science and Culture Center operates a project to spread regional science and culture, including operating customized science and culture programs for each life cycle and establishing a network of cooperation between government, academia, and research institutes. The Gyeonggi Science and Culture Center was selected as an excellent institution in the national evaluation of the regional science and culture capacity enhancement project last year.

Vice President of the Yunggiwon Bae Soo-moon said, “This agreement is meaningful in that it allows us to open a new learning opportunity for the elderly with convergence cultural content based on the scientific and technological expertise and convergence cultural education experience that the Yunggiwon has accumulated over the years,” adding, “We will continue to expand the provision of customized education for each stage of life through convergence with science.”

Meanwhile, the 'Fusion Science School', a regional science and culture capacity building project of the Yonsei University, is a program that provides customized convergence science education and experience for all age groups by life cycle. Through this agreement, they plan to cooperate in promoting various programs such as digital education for the elderly in the Gwanggyo area as well as experiential convergence culture education with grandchildren to form bonds between grandparents and connect generations.
