The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Oh Young-joo, hereinafter referred to as MSS) and the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Team (Director Ahn Gwang-hyun, hereinafter referred to as the Promotion Team) under the Small and Medium Business Administration (President Kim Young-shin) announced that they will recruit participating companies for the '2025 1st Smart Factory Supply Company Capacity Diagnosis Support Project' from April 21 to May 16.
Smart Factory Supplier Capacity Diagnosis is a project that supports capacity diagnosis by management, technology, project management, etc. for suppliers who wish to participate in the smart factory distribution and expansion project. For companies that wish to undergo in-depth diagnosis, growth guides are provided to suppliers through consulting. In addition, information on suppliers is provided to companies introducing smart factories so that they can easily find technology suppliers with the capacity suitable for smart factory construction.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups established a smart factory supplier capacity diagnosis system through a research service in 2022, and supported capacity diagnosis for 300 companies annually for two years from 2023 to 2024. As a result of the 2024 capacity diagnosis, 93 companies scored Level 2+, an excellent company grade, which is a 24% increase from 75 companies in 2023, showing that capacity diagnosis support is helping to improve the task performance capabilities of suppliers.
'DMTech Consulting', which participated in the supplier capacity diagnosis in 2023 and 2024, improved its supply capacity diagnosis score by 26.5 points from 2023 through voluntary capacity improvement based on the consulting results through in-depth diagnosis in 2024, and improved from Level 3- to Level 30. Based on this, 'DMTech Consulting' was selected as the No. 1 company in the Promotion Team's 2024 Smart Factory Support Project Best Practice Contest.
The supplier capacity diagnosis is operated in two tracks: basic diagnosis and in-depth diagnosis. Starting this year, the AI-based technology assessment model (KTRS-FM) of the Technology Guarantee Fund will be applied to management and technology evaluations during the basic diagnosis to increase the objectivity and reliability of the diagnosis. In addition, the in-depth diagnosis will derive improvement directions for companies that have undergone the basic diagnosis and even suggest mid- to long-term capacity enhancement strategies.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups is promoting the introduction of a smart manufacturing specialized company designation system and integrated management of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' smart support business supply companies as a follow-up measure to the 'Smart Manufacturing Innovation Ecosystem Creation Plan' announced at the Economic Ministers' Meeting on October 2nd last year. Since February of this year, the Smart Factory Business Management System has been providing integrated information on smart factory supply companies and smart service technology supply companies.
In order to discover a group of candidates for specialized smart manufacturing companies, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups will expand the scope of support for competency assessment from smart manufacturing to smart service providers starting this year, and expand the scale of support by supporting 950 companies, which is more than three times the number of companies supported last year (300 companies).

Kwon Soon-jae, head of the Manufacturing Innovation Division, said, “The smart technology supplier capacity diagnosis, which will be implemented starting in 2025, is an innovative collaboration model that combines the specialized evaluation capacity of the Technology Guarantee Fund and the smart manufacturing distribution and expansion know-how of the Promotion Team.” He added, “We plan to focus on establishing a foundation for domestic smart factory supplier companies to leap forward as specialized companies with global competitiveness by improving the evaluation system and expanding the scale of support. We are also considering utilizing it as one of the designation requirements when introducing a smart manufacturing specialized company designation system in the future.”
