Busan Changgyeong, Pre-Recruitment for Startup Investment Placement Program

The Busan Creative Economy Innovation Center (CEO Yongwoo Kim, hereinafter referred to as Busan Creative Economy) announced on the 2nd that it has begun pre-recruitment for the 'B.Startup PIE Placement Program' to proactively discover and directly invest in promising early-stage startups.

This pre-recruitment is intended to select promising startups early and make preemptive investments ahead of the launch of the annual regular program. Promising startups will receive direct investment from the center of 100 million to 200 million won, and follow-up investment IR will be provided in conjunction with the company.

Busan Changgyeong was finally selected as the operator of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' Korea Mother Fund (regional startup sector) and Busan City's 'Busan Future Growth Venture Fund' this year, successfully securing investment resources of approximately 9 billion won. This is a rare achievement in establishing a real investment base among local startup support organizations, and is expected to serve as a catalyst for the growth of local startups.

The 'PIE Program' is an abbreviation for B.Startup Potential Investment for Early-Stage startup, and is Busan Changgyeong's main business that has been in operation since 2021. It goes beyond simple nurturing and promotes investment-centered growth by diagnosing startup marketability and technological prowess and providing structured support that leads to IR-1:1 investment summit-demo day-investment attraction through close nurturing. In 2024, the focus is on discovering companies to directly invest in through batch programming.

Busan Changgyeong has recently made direct investments in AI logistics company A and digital healthcare company B, and is also successfully pursuing matching with follow-up investors. In this pre-recruitment, rapid investment execution will be carried out for companies that can be immediately reviewed for investment.

In particular, in this pre-recruitment, more than 30 collaborative investment companies will participate in the program to go beyond the simple matching level and maximize the possibility of actual investment, and the selected companies will receive support such as ▲direct investment from the center ▲provision of Pretips recommendation rights ▲customized IR sessions for the company ▲meetups with collaborative investment companies ▲investment review in conjunction with partner investment companies, etc.

The recruitment target is a start-up company located outside the metropolitan area (excluding Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi) with less than 3 years of business experience. Applications can be submitted at any time on the Busan Changgyeong Investment website (bcceiinv.com).

Busan Changgyeong CEO Yongwoo Kim said, “Attracting investment is the key to driving startup growth,” and added, “Based on the center’s funds and network, we plan to actively support local startups so they can grow into competitive companies on a national level.”
