Jeju Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (hereafter Jeju Center) announced that it held its first M-JOIN monthly IR event on March 27 as part of the ‘Build up Strategy for Startups’ program.
This M-JOIN monthly IR event was attended by prospective companies selected from the W-JOIN weekly IR held every Thursday, and investors including the joint management company of the ‘Jeju Early Startup Incubation Fund’ and the management company of the ‘Daegu-Jeju-Gwangju Regional Innovation Venture Fund’ also participated.
The companies that participated in the event were ▲Tobus (development of cosmetics using Jeju's sea squirt hat), ▲Megaplan (mass production of mackerel using artificial spawning), ▲K-jeju Hwasun Fishery Corporation (smart fishery product processing facility and B2B fishery product distribution platform), ▲JooEun Bio (recycling of Jeju tangerine by-products and eco-friendly business), ▲Crosshub (next-generation hybrid identity authentication service ID Block), etc. In particular, companies from various industries including the marine and fisheries fields participated.
'Startup-BuS' is a program for startups in the space and aviation, eco-friendly energy, AI and big data industries that have been established for less than 7 years. It holds W-JOIN, a preliminary review, and M-JOIN, a review of excellent companies, every week, and provides the final selected companies with the opportunity to participate in the investment review. In addition, if investment is attracted within the year, TIPS recommendations are also possible. Applications for participation can be submitted at any time through the Jeju Creative Economy Innovation Center website.
A Jeju Center official said, “Through this M-JOIN event, promising startups in the Jeju area were provided with an opportunity to network with investors, and we hope that they will receive practical support,” adding, “We will continue to revitalize Jeju’s deep-tech startup ecosystem and promote corporate discovery and investment connections.”
'Startup-BuS' is a program that the Ministry of SMEs and Startups first launched last year, and aims to discover excellent deep-tech startups in each region and quickly support them from initial investment to follow-up investment. Last year, five Creative Economy Innovation Centers (Gyeonggi, Incheon, Chungbuk, Ulsan, and Gwangju) discovered a total of 406 companies through pilot operations, and 110 of them successfully attracted direct and indirect investment of approximately KRW 29.6 billion. This year, three centers (Jeju, Gangwon, and Gyeongnam) including the Jeju Center were added, expanding the total to eight centers.
Jeju Center conducts IR every week for startups in the space and aviation, eco-friendly energy, AI and big data industries that have been in business for less than 7 years, and provides the final selected companies with the opportunity to participate in the investment review, and TIPS linkage is also possible through Jeju Center's investment.
