SAIGE CEO Jong-Woo Park, an industry-specialized AI company, gave a keynote speech on the topic of AI innovation strategies in the manufacturing industry at the Microsoft AI Tour in Seoul held on the 26th. In this presentation, CEO Jong-Woo Park introduced the major challenges that arise when introducing AI technology in manufacturing sites and SAIGE’s AI-based solutions to solve these challenges.
According to the announcement, the reasons why it is difficult to introduce AI in the manufacturing industry were summarized into three main points: ▲Industrial sites have 'strict standards' that require very high accuracy and fast inspection speeds, which are difficult to meet with general AI solutions; ▲There is a 'data shortage' problem in which only 1% of the data collected at industrial sites is meaningful data for AI learning (defects, accidents, etc.); and ▲Professional personnel are still needed for all operations, such as learning, deploying, and monitoring of AI models, resulting in 'high operating costs.'
To solve these problems, CEO Jong-Woo Park emphasized the development of a Vertical AI Agent using a bottom-up approach. He explained that this approach involves developing basic AI technologies specialized for each industry, establishing Vertical MLOps for model operation such as AI model monitoring and learning data selection, and developing it into an industry-specific decision-making Agent that performs AI model result analysis and process improvement derivation. He also presented a vision for how AI will change the future of the manufacturing industry. The main contents of the presentation included implementation of smart factories through AI-based robotics, real-time inspection and predictive maintenance through AI-based quality control, AI-based worker safety control, and effective collaboration systems between workers and AI.
