Seoul Robotics announced on the 25th that it has hired Ji Hyun-goo, a former Google software (SW) engineer, as its Chief Technology Officer. Seoul Robotics is a B2B autonomous driving company that is attempting to be listed on KOSDAQ in September, and through this personnel change, it plans to further strengthen the competitiveness of its autonomous driving technology.
Jihyun Koo, Chief Technology Officer, holds a bachelor's and master's degree in electrical and electronic engineering from KAIST. He joined Google in 2008 and worked as a SW engineer at the Silicon Valley headquarters until 2021. During this period, he carried out projects in various software areas such as web services, mobile apps, and infrastructure, and contributed to strengthening the organization's competitiveness by conducting hundreds of technical interviews at Google.
Afterwards, he led the AI-based autonomous driving delivery robot development project at the Robotics Lab of Woowa Brothers, and secured convergence technology encompassing both software and hardware for robots. In addition, he recruited about 70 engineers at the Robotics Lab over a period of three years, organized eight teams, and successfully led the development and operation infrastructure of AI-based autonomous driving delivery robots.
With this executive recruitment, Seoul Robotics plans to strengthen the technology of its B2B autonomous driving software, ‘Level 5 Control Tower’, and proactively respond to customer needs in various fields such as automobile manufacturers and logistics companies. ‘Level 5 Control Tower’ is a technology that supports vehicles without autonomous driving functions to operate like autonomous vehicles.
Ji Hyun-gu, head of technology at Seoul Robotics, said, “Seoul Robotics is continuously receiving collaboration requests from global automobile manufacturers and logistics companies, and is recognized for our differentiated technological prowess.” He added, “By recruiting excellent talent and expanding R&D investment, we will develop fully autonomous driving technology and various autonomous robot systems targeting the B2B market, and proactively respond to the next-generation technology market.”
Seoul Robotics CEO Lee Han-bin said, “Chief Technology Officer Ji Hyun-goo has the capabilities to grow the autonomous driving robot development team based on his experience at Google and Woowa Brothers,” and added, “Together with Chief Technology Officer Ji, we will do our best to help Seoul Robotics establish itself as the world’s number one B2B autonomous driving company.”
