Global secondary battery materials company L&F won an award in the Materials/Components category for its ‘High-Ni (Ni≥95%) composite cathode active material’ at the 2nd ‘InterBattery Awards 2025’ held at COEX in Gangnam, Seoul on the 24th.
The 'InterBattery Awards' is hosted by the Korea Battery Industry Association and COEX, and is an event where excellent products and technologies in the battery industry are selected from among the companies participating in the 'InterBattery' exhibition and their excellence is displayed to industry officials. The award-winning works are evaluated based on criteria such as technological excellence, innovation, marketability, and contribution to industrial development, and are selected in five categories: △Battery △Materials/Components △Use of Used Batteries △Equipment/Automation △Startups.
The 'High Nickel Composite Cathode Material' that won this time is an innovative product that mixes polycrystalline and single-crystal cathode materials with a nickel content of 95% or more. L&F was the first in the world to commercialize this product, and the judging panel highly praised the technological innovation that solved the battery life and stability issues that could occur in polycrystalline cathode materials by mixing them with single-crystal cathode materials. Through this, gas generation was reduced, stability was improved, and battery life was greatly improved.
'High-nickel composite cathode active material' has achieved results that surpass the limits of battery energy density based on innovative technology, and has enabled mass production of high-performance batteries. This is expected to strengthen K-battery's global competitiveness and contribute to promoting the spread of electric vehicles and realizing carbon neutrality worldwide.
“We are very pleased that our technological prowess has been recognized through this award,” said Jeon Sang-hoon, head of L&F’s Materials Development Research Institute. “The high-nickel composite cathode material is an innovative achievement that overcomes the limitations of energy density, and L&F will lead the next-generation battery market based on its world-leading technological prowess.”
