The International Governance Certification Institute (IGSC) announced on February 18 that it had signed an EPD verification partnership with Smart EPD of the United States in the Asian region.
Smart EPD is the US EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) program operator, and provides digital EPD services by integrating EC3 and EPD databases. Through this partnership, the two organizations aim to support EPD registration for Asian companies wishing to export to North America, and effectively respond to the environmental information requirements for the building and construction materials sector that are being strengthened by the Buy Clean Act.
As the designated verification body for Smart EPD, International Sustainability Certification will support the EPD verification process for the North American building and construction materials market. Verified EPDs will be posted on Smart EPD’s digital platform and integrated with third-party sustainability databases, including EC3, to promote the digitalization of EPDs.
“This partnership is very meaningful as it supports the digital issuance of EPDs and allows for faster and easier sharing of EPDs through EC3, the EPD data sharing service in North America,” said Lim No-hyun, CEO of International Sustainability Certification. “We are pleased to provide EPD verification services to help Asian companies easily enter the North American building and construction materials market.”
