Lappkorea (CEO Gwang-soon Lee) announced on the 9th that CEO Gwang-soon Lee was selected as a 'model SME' in the manufacturing sector at the '2025 Gyeonggi SME Competition' and received the Prime Minister's Award. This competition is co-hosted by the Korea Federation of SMEs and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and is held annually to encourage SMEs and workers who have contributed to the national economic development and job creation.
This year's event was held at the Ramada Plaza Suwon Hotel in Suwon City under the theme of 'Cheer up, SMEs, running again, Republic of Korea', and was attended by approximately 200 people, including SME contributors, businesspeople, and officials from related organizations.
Led by CEO Lee Kwang-soon, Lab Korea is a global cable company headquartered in Germany, and has focused on localizing technology and expanding exports in Korea. In order to reduce dependence on high value-added European cable technology, the company established its own R&D center in Korea and has invested in continuous technology development, and based on this, it has also secured overseas reverse export performance. In particular, it is focusing its capabilities on developing products for future mobility, such as high-heat-resistant lightweight cables.
The company also set out to establish a company-wide strategy to respond to the changing market environment. Through the 'Strategy 2027' project in which all employees participated, the organization's resources and capabilities were reallocated to high-growth industries, and through this strategic shift, sales grew 27% year-on-year and annual sales exceeded KRW 100 billion.
In terms of internal organizational culture, transparency and communication are emphasized. 'Family Meeting' is held every quarter to share key management indicators with all employees, and excellent employees are rewarded through 'LAPP Awards' at the end of the year. 'EOS', an internal channel, is also operated to collect employees' opinions.
Community service activities are also continuing steadily. Rap Korea has continued volunteer and donation activities targeting child welfare facilities, and also operates practical programs such as cleaning service and outdoor activity accompaniment in which employees directly participate. In recognition of this achievement, it received a gold medal from the Korean Red Cross in 2024.
CEO Lee Kwang-soon said, “This award is an achievement that all members have achieved together,” and added, “We will continue to strengthen technological independence and social responsibility to contribute to the sustainable growth of small and medium-sized businesses and to enhancing their global competitiveness.”
