Incheon Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (CEO Lee Han-seop, hereinafter referred to as Incheon Center) announced that it will hold the first half of 2025 startup investment attraction event 'BiiG WAVE' at COEX Startup Branch and Studio 159 in Samseong-dong, Seoul on Wednesday, July 16. At this event, 10 promising startups in the deep tech and bio/healthcare fields will participate and hold corporate briefings (IR) and 1:1 meetups for investors.
In the first half of this year, a total of 306 companies applied for Big Wave, recording a competition rate of approximately 30:1. The companies that were finally selected cover cutting-edge technology fields such as ▲AI-based early diagnosis of heart disease ▲pegylated bilirubin new drug ▲next-generation antibody treatment platform ▲hydrogen fuel cell and charging technology ▲electric vehicle integrated service ▲quantum sensor and secure communication. Five companies were evenly selected from each of the deep tech and bio fields, so technological exchanges between industries and various investment connections are expected.
About 100 domestic and international investment and startup support organizations are expected to attend this event, and advance applications for 1:1 meetups are actively being accepted through the event’s official page. Incheon Center Director Lee Han-seop said, “This year, even in a situation where investment sentiment has been depressed, we have selected companies with feasibility and growth strategies,” adding, “This will be an opportunity for investors to directly verify technological prowess and marketability on site.”
'Big Wave IR' is a representative venture investment program jointly operated by Incheon Metropolitan City and Incheon Center, and is based on 'Incheon Big Wave Mother Fund', the first venture mother fund established by a local government nationwide. Since its launch in 2021, a total of 94 startups have been discovered and a cumulative investment of approximately KRW 150 billion has been achieved. It is attracting attention as a sophisticated program that supports the entire process from corporate diagnosis to pitching strategy establishment and follow-up investor matching.
A second IR day themed on open innovation is also scheduled for the second half of the year, and applications for event participation and meetups can be made through the official platform .
