Dalpa, an AI agent development company, announced on the 15th that it has solved the 'no-result search' problem by providing an AI-based search solution to e-commerce platform Kurly.
Curly was experiencing problems with its existing search system, such as typos, synonyms, and natural language expressions, where user search terms did not exactly match the product database, resulting in search results not being displayed. This was a major factor in lowering purchase conversion rates and user churn.
To improve these issues, Dalpa designed and provided a semantic search model. The model is an AI-based search engine specialized in natural language processing, typo response, and non-standard query analysis, and has the function of precisely interpreting the user’s search intent and providing appropriate results.
To verify the effectiveness of the AI search solution, Kurly conducted an A/B test between the existing search system and the Dalpa model. The test results showed that the group that applied Dalpa’s search engine had a shopping cart conversion rate that improved by about 10%, and the company said that there was a real sales increase effect just by improving search quality without any promotions.
From an operational perspective, the Dalpa solution is evaluated to have satisfied both cost efficiency and improved search performance in that it has lower introduction and maintenance costs compared to existing search systems and is quick to customize to suit the customer.
A Kurly official said, “By introducing AI search, search quality has improved, which has led to improvements in both purchase conversion rates and customer satisfaction,” adding, “We have confirmed that search technology can have a direct impact on business performance beyond simple user experience (UX).”
“This project is a representative case of AI technology producing customer behavior-based performance in an actual e-commerce environment,” said Park Hyo-yeon, lead of Dalpa Commerce Team. “It proved that on an online platform where search is key, high-quality search results directly lead to conversion rates.”
