Korea Fintech Industry Association, 'Venture Investment Forum for Fintech and Digital Asset Activation' Held

The Korea Fintech Industry Association (Chairman Lee Geun-joo, CEO of Hanpass) and the AI Digital Economy Finance Forum (Chairman Jeong Yu-shin) will hold the ‘Venture Investment Forum for Fintech and Digital Asset Activation’ on July 24th at the international conference room on the 2nd floor of the Bank Association Building.

This forum is hosted by the Korea Fintech Industry Association and the AI Digital Economy Finance Forum, organized by the Digital Economy Finance Research Institute, and sponsored by related organizations such as the Financial Services Commission, the Korea Financial Investment Association, and the Korea Venture Capital Association. Approximately 200 people from academia, the legal profession, policy experts, and industry are expected to attend.

This forum, held amidst the rapid changes in the financial market due to digital and AI technologies and digital assets, was organized to discuss ways to establish a legal and institutional foundation for the sustainable growth of the fintech and digital asset industries, as well as ways to create an investment foundation as a new venture industry.

In Session 1, we will examine the Electronic Financial Transaction Act, which can be considered the model for the fintech industry, the issues and tasks of issuing the Korean Won stablecoin, which can be considered the core of digital asset transactions, and the digital asset investment trends of institutions. In Session 2, we will discuss the current status of the venture industry, investment points that venture capitalists should be aware of in order to receive investment, and precautions in contracts. Session 3 will be a comprehensive discussion that will focus on issues and future development plans for fintech and digital assets, as well as ways to build an investment ecosystem in the fintech and digital asset industries.

The forum will begin with opening remarks by Lee Keun-joo, Chairman of the Korea Fintech Industry Association, followed by congratulatory remarks by Kwon Dae-young, Secretary-General of the Financial Services Commission, Seo Yu-seok, Chairman of the Korea Financial Investment Association, and Lee Jun-hee, Vice Chairman of the Venture Capital Association, and will consist of an opening session and a general discussion.

In the opening session 1, ▲Attorney Hanjin Lee (Kim & Chang) will present on 'Changes in the Digital Finance Environment and Tasks of Revision of the Electronic Financial Transaction Act'. He will mention the need to revise the Electronic Financial Transaction Act, including MyPayment (already in effect in Europe, etc.), amidst the rapidly changing digital finance environment. Next, ▲Professor Hyungkoo Kang (Hanyang University) will present on 'Issues and Development Direction of Won Stablecoins' and ▲Director Byeongyoon Seo (DSRV Labs) will present on 'Utilization Plans for Won Stablecoins Based on Overseas Cases', addressing issues such as currency and settlement (utilization plans for trade settlements, etc.) of stablecoins that have recently become hot issues. Next, ▲CEO Jongwook Oh (Waybridge) will present on the topic of 'Institutional Investment in Digital Assets and Digital Financial Innovation'.

In the opening session 2, ▲Director Lee Ki-baek (Venture Capital Association) will present on ‘Current status of venture industry and fund formation,’ followed by ▲CEO Park In-woo (Compa Ventures) on ‘Key investment points in venture capital investment,’ ▲Executive Director Yoon Ha-ri (JB Investment) on ‘Investment cases and implications in the fintech and blockchain industry,’ and ▲Attorney Han Seo-hee (Barun Law Firm) on ‘Things to keep in mind and key points when signing investment contracts.’

The following general discussion will be moderated by Chairman Jeong Yu-shin (AI Digital Economy Finance Forum), and attended by Dr. Kim Si-hong (Law Firm Gwangjang), Dr. Yoon Min-seop (Digital Consumer Research Institute), CEO Kim Tae-hoon (T Investment), and Director Noh Hae-seong (Korea Growth Finance Investment Management). They will discuss issues such as the Electronic Financial Transaction Act and stablecoins, as well as ways to build a venture investment ecosystem as a new industry.
