Lavawave files patent application for 'Lava Scanner' to detect illegal body cam footage.

Lavawave , an AI-based digital crime response company, announced on the 1st that it has applied for a patent for its self-developed illegal filming monitoring and detection solution, “LAVAR SCANNER,” titled “System for detecting leaked images and its operating method.”

Launched in February, Lava Scanner is an AI-based digital crime detection solution that has expanded its scope to detect illegal video content across a variety of online channels, including social media and porn sites. It utilizes advanced technology that not only recognizes faces but also identifies backgrounds and objects appearing in videos.

This solution can detect illegally filmed material distributed online using only information as simple as a photo ID, even without the victim's original video or image. This can help reduce the psychological and secondary damage that can occur when victims directly access the content.

It also includes technology that precisely searches for images and videos with similar shooting angles, poses, and compositions, making it possible to respond to illegally filmed material that is distributed in a distorted form.

Lavawave has used this solution to combat various digital crimes, including body cam phishing and deepfakes. Recently, it also participated in countering fake news by detecting deepfake content targeting candidates during election campaigns. Based on these achievements, it received a commendation from the Minister of Science and ICT in July.

The company plans to use this patent application as a catalyst for further enhancing the functionality of the Lava Scanner. Going forward, the company plans to develop additional technologies, including specific body part detection, voiceprint analysis, and video frame-by-frame recognition, to strengthen its digital crime response capabilities.

A Lavawave representative stated that they will continue to strengthen their ability to detect illegal filming using AI technology, thereby preventing personal information leaks and the spread of illegal content and contributing to creating a safer online environment.
