Save the Farms (CEO Hwang In-soo), a low-carbon resource recycling solution startup, announced that it has been selected for the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP)'s "Startup and Venture Business Support Program." This selection provides Save the Farms with a foundation for technological advancement and market expansion in the energy and environment sectors.
Since 2019, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) has been operating a startup support program to discover and support startups and venture companies with technological prowess and social value. This year, 20 companies were selected from among numerous applications received nationwide, receiving a total of KRW 360 million in funding. Selection was made through a multi-stage evaluation process, including document screening and on-site inspections. Key evaluation criteria included technological completeness, business viability, and social impact.
Save the Farms is a company with a recycling-based biochar technology utilizing organic waste. They are developing slow-release fertilizers, soil conditioners, and carbon-reducing materials using oyster shells, food waste, and livestock manure. This technology has been highly praised for its ability to simultaneously reduce greenhouse gases, improve soil pollution, and promote resource recycling.
Hwang In-soo, CEO of Save the Farms, said, “This selection is the result of public institutions recognizing our technological prowess and sustainable business model,” and added, “Based on the grant, we will accelerate the development of strategies to enhance product performance, expand distribution to farms, and enter the global market.”
Save the Farms has won awards in various government-sponsored startup support programs and environmental technology competitions, and has focused on developing platforms for converting organic waste into high-value-added resources and reducing carbon emissions. With this selection as a support project, Save the Farms plans to accelerate the creation of a carbon-reducing agricultural ecosystem that combines the environment, agriculture, and technology.
Meanwhile, Hanwha Solutions announced that it plans to “continue to expand the discovery and support of promising startups to respond to climate change and revitalize the technology startup ecosystem.”
