The SK Telecom consortium , in which Krafton (CEO Chang-han Kim) participated, was selected as an elite team for the 'Independent AI Foundation Model' development project hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
The SK Telecom consortium aims to implement full-stack AI based on proprietary technologies, including semiconductors, AI models, data, and services, and to open-source these AI models to the domestic ecosystem. Furthermore, the consortium plans to implement K-AI services using post-transformer-based AI models, thereby increasing public access to AI and securing global AI leadership.
Within the consortium, Krafton will lead the architectural design and learning algorithm research of next-generation multimodal models, and will also develop AI solutions specialized in the gaming field and APIs that can be utilized in game content such as AI NPCs and story engines.
Krafton possesses a dataset collection platform that organically connects diverse multimodal data, including vision, text, speech, and action. This platform provides Krafton with a competitive edge in securing core technologies and industrial applications. Furthermore, the company demonstrated its technological prowess by unveiling Co-Playable Character (CPC), jointly developed with NVIDIA, and the AI agent performance evaluation benchmark "Orak." This year, the company continues its research activities, publishing 15 papers in the world's most prestigious AI academic conferences.
Meanwhile, Krafton presented the results of applying the post-training technique developed in collaboration with SK Telecom to three open-source inference-specific language models, each with 7B (7 billion parameters). These models demonstrated Krafton's ability to develop domain-specific AI models by applying its proprietary learning techniques.
Lee Kang-wook, head of Krafton's Deep Learning Division, said, "Krafton's multimodal and game-specific AI technology is a key differentiating factor for the consortium," and added, "We will contribute to the development of the domestic AI ecosystem and securing global leadership together with the SK Telecom consortium."
