The Korea Artificial Intelligence and Software Industry Association has been selected by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy to operate the AI Industry Human Resource Development Council.

The Korea Artificial Intelligence & Software Industry Association (KOSA, Chairman Cho Jun-hee) announced on Wednesday, August 6 that it has been newly designated as the operating organization for the 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Industry Human Resource Development Council' by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and has begun operations.

Sector Councils (SCs) are private sector-led human resource development consultative bodies comprised of industry-specific organizations, leading companies, academia, and research institutes. Currently, they exist in approximately 20 industries, including artificial intelligence (AI), machinery, and steel. These councils conduct research to identify issues such as talent shortages and talent mismatches in their respective industries. Based on these analyses, they develop workforce development plans tailored to the needs of the industry and utilize training programs.

The association was selected as the Software (SW) Human Resource Development Council in 2013 and has focused on fostering software talent for 12 years. After completing its original project in May 2024, it was re-selected as the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Industry Human Resource Development Council this year.

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) Human Resources Development Council, comprised of approximately 30 members from industry, academia, research, and government, plans to pursue five key projects.

The main business areas include ▲discussion of major industry issues and systematic response ▲analysis of demand and supply of human resources and education and training ▲development of specialized education and training programs in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) ▲development and proposal of standards for AI qualifications and job competencies ▲recruitment support activities through improving awareness of small and medium-sized enterprises and matching of human resources.

Chairman Cho Jun-hee said, “As the AI transition (AX) is rapidly progressing across all industries, the mismatch between the demand and supply of field talent is deepening,” and added, “We will systematically cultivate AI talent that the industry actually needs, effectively connect companies and talent, and do our best to reduce this gap and cultivate practical AI experts.”
