M-Utron secures seed funding, raising a total of 1.1 billion won.

M-Utron Co., Ltd., a direct investment company of the Busan Creative Economy Innovation Center (hereinafter referred to as Busan Changgyeong), announced that it had secured a seed investment of 200 million won from Busan Changgyeong in April, and had completed securing a total of 1.1 billion won in investment by August.

This seed investment round was conducted through participation in B.Startup PIE, a program for follow-up investment, MUST IR, and selection as a stepping stone for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' Startup Growth Technology Development (Stepping Stone) project, and successfully secured related funds.

In addition, M-Utron Co., Ltd. was selected for Pre-TIPS, a technology startup support program, and secured approximately 100 million won in commercialization funds.

MUtron Co., Ltd., a nuclear power plant maintenance specialist, provides next-generation nuclear power plant maintenance systems through equipment and process development, operator training, and more. In particular, it has developed its own BMI nozzle maintenance and related software, which are the passageways for equipment used to measure the internal condition of nuclear reactors. The company has completed the replacement of the BMI nozzles at Kori Unit 4 in 2023 and Hanbit Unit 1 in 2024.

Building on this maintenance experience and track record, the company is actively pursuing research and development to improve automation equipment and technology for related processes. Using this seed investment and Freetips funding, the company plans to finalize the development of automated equipment specifically for replacing aging BMI nozzles. Following this, the company plans to collaborate with major nuclear power companies to conduct technology testing and stability verification, and explore expansion into the SMR (small modular reactor) sector.

Busan Changgyeong CEO Kim Yong-woo said, “Discovering and fostering technology-based companies that can lead the future is a critical task for revitalizing the local economy,” adding, “We anticipate that MUtron’s continued growth will enhance the competitiveness of the nuclear power plant maintenance industry.”
